"The Image of You" was released on May 10 on digital platforms including Amazon Prime and Apple TV. A thriller movie based on a book by Adele Parks, the film featured "Pretty Little Liars" star Sasha Pieterse as Anna and Zoe and Parker Young as Nick.
Synopsis
This movie followed twins named Zoe and Anna, who had polar opposite personalities. They grew up with a rich family and are living together. Anna and Zoe were inseparable but in a good sense, their relationship has this toxicity. Anna took Zoe's advice to heart instead of deciding for herself. The issue here was if she didn't listen Zoe took matters into her own hands.
When Anna started going on this dating app, she met Nick Hudson the stock banker. They clicked right away which took things a little too fast through their relationship. The emotions of Zoe completely spiraled once she found out that Anna met Nick. Anna believed he was the one while Zoe didn't trust him, so she began to find out the truth about him.
Highs
Pieterse's outstanding performance as Zoe, who was similar to her "Pretty Little Liars" character Alison, was the film's high point. Because people would think she was portraying two different people, the way she does both characters was flawless. When both characters are present in the same room, the CGI in this movie was excellent. Her character Anna was this loving and caring person while Zoe was stuck-up and mean toward others.
The story's narrative, which left the audience guessing what would happen next, was another highlight. Toward the middle of the movie, some things didn't make sense, but by the conclusion, everything fell into place. The stunning revelation of Nick's true circumstances was made at the film's conclusion. The movie was suspenseful all the way through.
Parker Young did an outstanding job portraying Nick, a devoted man who adored Anna. However, something about him changed when it came to her family. He played a character who genuinely cared about Anna but gave in to temptation when he met Zoe. The setting of the movie was beautiful when Nick and Anna went on their dates and through the city. This gave a sense of a romantic movie but with a thrilling twist.
Lows
The background is important regarding the twins' childhood, which is one of the film's weakest points. This was similar to inquiries concerning why the father of the twins appeared distant when his children came home. There were a few sequences that may have included more details regarding the twins' personalities. The plot could have been made clearer without giving away the movie's ending, as it was first a little ambiguous.
Another low point was Anna's character, who was supposed to be this incredibly compassionate and lovely girl, but it felt like her personality was too fake because she was never permitted to feel angry or irritated with her sister, as seen in a few scenes. Rather than being angry or sad when things didn't go her way, she would just accept it. On the other hand, Zoe was enraged and scandalous, and her emotions were intact.
Although Nick and Anna's love tale was endearing, something was lacking. Since the start of their relationship, there had been lies between them and neither of them would ask the other hard questions. There were several situations in which Nick didn't know the key stuff about Anna like her former romances or what she had been through.
Verdict
This was a romantic thriller that showed a tremendous amount of suspense and kept the audience on their feet.
