Five men and three women in the Eastern Michigan track and field program will fly the flag for the green and white in Jacksonville, Florida, later this week.
Gabe Singh, Brendan Hill, Lucky Fiaku, Jake McEachern and Kian Wiles headline the men’s Eagles that will compete in the NCAA East Prelims that begin the morning of May 28, 2025. Micah Martin, Saraiah Walkes and Isabella Brent will lead the women into competition beginning May 29.
Sophomore Jake McEachern will kick off the competition representing the Eagles in the hammer throwing competition on May 28 at 10 a.m. McEachern, from Lloydminster, Alberta, ranked second in the Mid-American Conference with a throwing distance of 63.63 meters, a season-best mark from him to boot.
Englander Kian Wiles will also compete for the Eagles on May 28 at 6:30 p.m., participating in the first round of the 1500-meter that he placed first in the conference thanks to a three minute, 40 second, 73 millisecond time. Wiles, a junior, will compete again on May 30 in the quarterfinals if he advances as part of the top five in his heat or posts one of the four fastest subsequent times.
Senior Gabe Singh rounds out the competitors on May 28, racing in the 400m hurdle division thanks to posting a staggering time of 50 seconds and 62 milliseconds, good enough for first in the MAC. The Toledo native will also race again on Friday if he places on the podium in his heat or posts one of the six fastest times of the day.
Brendan Hill and Lucky Fiaku will both compete on May 30 in the high jump competition, the duo finishing second in the conference with 2.12m marks respectively with a chance to advance to the national championships if they finish in the top 12.
Women’s Competitors
Isabella Brent will kick off the action for the women’s contestants on May 29 at 10 a.m., qualifying for the prelims with a 57.54m mark that was good enough for fourth in the MAC. If the senior finishes inside the top 12, she will advance to the national championships.
Saraiah Walkes, the MVP of the MAC Outdoor Championships, aims to back up her outstanding performance by also competing on May 30 in the 400m dash. If Walkes finishes inside the top three or posts one of the next six fastest times, she will qualify for the May 31 quarterfinals event.
Micah Martin will represent the Eagles in the high jumping competition thanks to a 1.76m effort that was good enough for fourth in the conference. The junior will compete on May 31, and if she finishes inside the top 12, she will advance to the national championships.
The Eagles that advance to the National Championships will return to action in Eugene, Oregon, from June 11-14.
