Eastern Michigan women’s basketball defeats St. Thomas in defensive battle, 52-41

Last season, it took the Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team 25 games to score their second win of the campaign.

This year, the Eagles have achieved that feat in just four contests.

Eastern Michigan put on a defensive clinic against the University of St. Thomas the night of Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, leaving Schoenecker Arena with a 52-41 victory and a .500 record once more in 2025-26.

Despite only shooting 31.5% from the floor themselves, the Eagles held the Tommies to a 33.3% shooting percentage during the matchup, with the home team posting a 1-of-13 mark on three point attempts.

Sisi Eleko once again powered Eastern Michigan’s offensive efforts with another double-double, contributing 14 points and 13 rebounds to the stat sheet, while freshman Peyton Hill continued the strong start to her collegiate career, leading the team in scoring with 15 points and adding four rebounds.

Ainhoa Cea, the senior transfer from Lipscomb University, nearly posted a double-double of her own in 38 minutes of action. Cea added 11 points, nine assists and five rebounds to the Eagles’ efforts, the only other player on the squad to score in double figures.

After a slow first half for both teams that featured a combined 39 points, Eastern Michigan asserted their dominance in the second half, out-scoring the home team 32-22 over the final 20 minutes after only leading by a single point at the half.

With the win, the Eagles improved their record to 2-2 on the campaign, while the Tommies fell to 0-3.

Next time out, Eastern Michigan continues their extended road trip to open 2025-26 with a trip to Purdue Fort Wayne University on Nov. 19, 2025, at 7 p.m. Viewers can stream all of the action live on ESPN+.
