Local friendship and self-love events for Valentine's Day

While Valentine's Day is often considered a holiday for couples, that doesn't mean those without a partner can't join in on the festivities.

To get into the spirit, and to celebrate self-love and friendship, here are five on-campus and local Valentine's Day events to attend solo or with friends.

Be Your Own Valentine

Hosted by Campus Life and Same Page, a new Eastern Michigan University initiative dedicated to helping students navigate relationships, Be Your Own Valentine offers a night of self-love-themed silent disco.

Students will wear individual headphones and choose among a selection of different songs. Attendees can also enjoy free mocktails.

The event will be held in the Student Center Ballroom on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, from 7-10 p.m.

For those who would like to request accommodations, contact Campus Life via email at campuslife@emich.edu.

A Galentine's Crafting Social

Hosted by the Yours Truly Event Venue, A Galentine's Crafting Social welcomes Ypsilanti residents to a night of creative slow-crafting, as well as a menu of mocktails.

Customers will be provided with all the supplies needed to create 3D botanical displays, composed of pressed flowers and floating frames. Customers will also be guided by a live demo and are encouraged to sip and socialize while they create.

The event will be held Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, beginning at 6 p.m. Yours Truly Event Venue is located in downtown Ypsilanti at 114 W. Michigan Ave. Tickets are $28.52 per attendee.
