On Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, the Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team hosted Western Michigan University inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center. The Broncos defeated the Eagles with a final score of 76-62 in Mid-American Conference action. Although the Eagles held a lead at halftime, the Broncos outscored the home team 48-29 during the second half of play.
Game progression
The game began with Eastern Michigan taking an 11-2 lead following an 8-0 scoring run. Gregory Lawson II made a three-point field goal to conclude that sequence. The Eagles reached their largest lead of the contest at the 11:44 mark of the first half, holding a 14-point advantage at 19-5. Western Michigan responded with a 7-0 scoring stretch and later produced a 13-0 run to take its first lead of the day. Eastern Michigan ended the half with a 9-3 surge, entering the locker room with a 33-28 lead.

Individual performances
Addison Patterson led the Eastern Michigan offense with 22 points. He made 10 of 21 field goal attempts and recorded nine rebounds and four assists. This performance marked Patterson’s 14th consecutive game scoring at least 10 points and his 21st such game of the season. It was also the first time in his Division I career that he recorded 20 or more points in back-to-back games, following a 32-point performance against Kent State on Feb. 11.
Gregory Lawson II finished with 18 points. He made five of his six attempts from three-point range. Lawson II leads the MAC with a 48.2% conversion rate from beyond the arc. Mak Manciel contributed nine points, including two three-pointers, which marked his 10th game this season with multiple makes from distance.
Defensively, Mohammad Habhab and Godslove Nwabude each recorded three blocks. Habhab has now recorded a minimum of one block in 10 straight games, while Nwabude has 11 games this season with multiple blocks.
For Western Michigan, Brady Swartz scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Ej Ryans contributed 13 points, making all six of his free-throw attempts. Jayden Brewer and Michael Sulaka each added nine points and seven rebounds. Justice Williams scored eight points, while Trey Lewis added six.
Statistical analysis
Eastern Michigan shot 40.7% from the field and 42.9% from the three-point line. Western Michigan finished the game with a 39.3% shooting rate and a 56.3% rate from three-point range. This result marks the fifth game in a row that Eastern Michigan has lost while outshooting its opponent. The Eagles’ record is 9-5 this season when maintaining a higher shooting percentage than their opponent.
Rebounding was a factor in the outcome, as Western Michigan held a 45-29 advantage on the glass. The Broncos collected 15 offensive rebounds, leading to 19 second-chance points. Eastern Michigan recorded six offensive rebounds and eight second-chance points. Western Michigan also held an advantage at the free-throw line, making 19 of 23 attempts, while Eastern Michigan made five of nine attempts.
The Broncos recorded 22 points in the paint, 10 fast-break points and nine points off turnovers. The Eagles recorded 30 points in the paint, nine fast-break points and five points off turnovers. The Western Michigan bench outscored the Eastern Michigan bench 32-14.

Following this loss, Eastern Michigan’s record stands at 9-17 overall and 3-10 in the MAC. Western Michigan moved to 9-16 overall and 3-9 in conference play. Western Michigan now leads the all-time series 68-56. The Broncos have won the last three matchups against the Eagles. The programs first met on Feb. 15, 1915, in a game Eastern Michigan won 37-24.
