Tracy Grollman: A legacy of excellence on and off the lacrosse field

In the burgeoning history of Eastern Michigan University lacrosse, few names carry as much weight as Tracy Grollman's.

A senior attacker from Annapolis, Maryland, Grollman has become a symbol of the program's rising competitive stature and its commitment to academic rigor. Her recent selection as the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Feb. 25, 2026, serves as a testament to a career defined by record-breaking performances and consistent leadership.

A historic week in Eugene

The highlight of Grollman’s recent campaign was her instrumental role in a landmark achievement for the Eagles — the program’s first-ever victory over a Power 4 opponent. On Feb. 22, 2022, Eastern Michigan traveled to the University of Oregon, where Grollman’s veteran presence proved decisive. She tallied four points on two goals and two assists during the 12-9 upset.

Grollman was the spark the Eagles needed, scoring a goal that ignited a six-goal surge in the second quarter. She later found the back of the net again to tie the game at 6-6, helping EMU secure a 9-7 lead by halftime. Beyond her scoring, her vision on the field was critical; both of her assists directly led to goals that extended the EMU lead to two points at crucial moments in the match.

This performance followed a solid showing earlier in the week at Canisius University, where she recorded two goals and an assist. In total, she finished the week with seven points on four goals and three assists.

Joining the century club

While the win over Oregon was a team milestone, Grollman also reached a profound individual landmark during the trip. By recording her second multi-goal and multi-assist game of the season, she officially surpassed 100 career points. Grollman is only the second player in the history of EMU lacrosse to reach the century mark, solidifying her status as one of the most prolific offensive threats to ever wear the Green and White.

Her quest for the record books does not stop there. With 42 career assists, Grollman currently sits just three assists away from claiming the all-time program record. Her ability to facilitate the offense is a hallmark of her game, evidenced by the fact that the Oregon matchup marked her ninth career game with multiple assists.

The standard for scholar-athletes

Grollman’s excellence is not confined to the turf. The MAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week award is a prestigious honor reserved for student-athletes who maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and perform exceptionally in their respective sports. For Grollman, this is a familiar accolade; it marks the second time in her career she has received this conference-wide recognition, with her first honor coming April 22, 2025.

Her success has helped set a high standard for her teammates. Recently, the Eagles have dominated the award, with Grollman’s teammate Kelsea Dague winning the previous week (Feb. 19), following the trail blazed by Mackenzie Blackwell, who was the first player in program history to be named a MAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week on April 9, 2025.

Looking toward the horizon

As Grollman enters the final stretch of her senior season, the Eagles show no signs of slowing down. The team is set to travel to Tennessee for matchups against Austin Peay State University and another Power 4 challenge against Vanderbilt University. For Grollman, these games represent more than just opportunities for wins; they are chances to further cement a legacy of excellence that will inspire future generations of Eagles in Annapolis and Ypsilanti alike.
