Voting opens for 2026 EMU Student Government election

Voting for this year's Student Government election at Eastern Michigan University opened March 25, 2026, stated an email sent by the university's communications department Wednesday morning. All currently enrolled students are eligible to vote using the link at the top of their my.emich.edu home pages. Voting will close at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 26.

Two presidential tickets will be on the ballot, along with eight senatorial candidates. Election Commissioner Max Butler confirmed on March 23 that two new candidates for senator, Josephine Oloye and Engin Efe Gokce had been approved as write-in candidates. Both write-in candidates responded to requests for comment from The Echo on March 24, and their answers have been added to The Echo's article about senatorial candidate platforms.

A timeline of the 2026 election cycle can be found on the Student Government website.
