Two men hospitalized after shooting in Ypsilanti Township

On the night of Thursday, May 21, 2026, an 18-year-old man and a 33-year-old man were shot in Ypsilanti Township.

Deputies arrived at the scene in the 1600 block of Holmes Road around 8:49 p.m. where they found the two men. The 18-year-old was found in critical condition and was taken to a local hospital by first responders. The 33-year-old was taken to a hospital outside of Washtenaw County, where he is in serious but stable condition, said Commander of Community Engagement Eugene Rush in a written statement.

Investigators do not believe that this incident was a random act and there is currently no safety concerns for the public, Rush said in the statement. The shooting remains under investigation.

Police are urging the public to contact the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office at 734-944-2911, 734-973-7711 or 911 with any leads, witnesses and other information in relation to the shooting.
