Eastern Michigan University’s Board of Regents approved a 2.5% tuition increase and new fee structure for the upcoming academic year at its June 25, 2026 meeting.
The changes mark what the university describes as the lowest annual tuition percentage increase in more than a decade.
The undergraduate tuition increase will bring the per-credit hour charge to $717.50, an increase from the previous academic year's rate of $700 per credit hour. The flat rate for full-time students will increase to $8,550 per semester. This rate applies to students taking 12-16 credit hours.
Graduate, doctoral, signature program and differential tuition rates will see a slightly higher 3% increase. For resident graduate students, this is an increase from $1,016 to $1,046.50 per credit hour.
A new $225 per semester student services fee was also approved. The student services fee covers access to the Rec/IM, counseling and well-being services, career services and registration each semester, said Walter Kraft, vice president for communications, in a written statement.
On the other side of the ledger, the university is eliminating several existing fees, including the registration fee ($60), new student fee ($200), and REC-IM facility fee ($80). The hybrid course fee ($60) will be discontinued starting in the spring semester.
Student parking also sees notable changes. The standard parking rate will drop from $223 to $210 per semester, while two new options, a discounted commuter rate at $175 and premium reserved spaces at $400, will be introduced alongside a new Westview All Access option for $225.
