Drag Music Bingo For 'Rumble of the Bumble' - June 24

Stop by the Tap Room in Ypsilanti June 24, for a night of music, dancing and bingo with a twist. Themed around Disney classics and hosted by Boylesque, a drag troupe based in Ypsilanti, the event is hosted in support of "Rumble of the Bumble," a small local street festival.

While admission is free, donations to help support the festival are encouraged. Open to all ages, doors will open at 6:15 p.m., with the event's official start time scheduled for 7 p.m. To reserve a spot, attendees can visit the group's Eventbrite page. 

Tap Room is at 201 W. Michigan Ave., Ypsilanti.

Festive Folk Friday (Featuring Zar0chi) - June 26

Located in Saline, The Arboretum Music Venue is hosting Zarochi, a multi-instrumental artist based in Lansing. Zarochi's music blends Irish Folk and Americana Bluegrass with Heavy Metal. Doors open at 7 p.m., with music starting at 8 p.m. Zarochi is joined by artists Birjy and Bekka Madeleine for a Traditional Celtic Set. Tickets are general admission, priced at $5 each. 

The Arboretum Music Venue is at 984 E. Michigan Ave., Saline.

Pride Y2K Cookout - June 27

Presented by Black Pride Ypsi, a non-profit first established in 2025 with the mission of improving the lives of Black queer residents of Ypsilanti, the Pride Y2K Cookout is set to offer attendees the chance to listen to three up and coming DJs, hands-on activities and a vibrant community.

While attendance is free, donation is encouraged on a sliding scale. Connecting local residents through sound, food, heritage and shared energy, the Pride Y2K Cookout will be held at the Growing Hope Indoor Farmers Market June 27, 2026, from 5-10 p.m. 

Rhizome Roots Studio: Burlesque Live Show

Inspired by Ryan Coogler's 2025 Horror film "Sinners," Rhizome Roots Studio's upcoming burlesque experience will be showcasing glamorous musical performances inspired by southern heat.

Set to run for approximately two hours and thirty minutes, interested attendees can find tickets on eventbrite.com through Ypsi Real, with the event starting at 6:30 p.m. June 28.

The Rhizome Roots Studio is located at 108 Pearl St. All attendees must be 21+.


Gray Connor

Gray Connor uses they/he pronouns, and has worked for The Eastern Echo since August 2024. They started as newsletter editor, then moved to managing editor of operations in January 2026. For their undergraduate studies, Connor majored in media studies and journalism with a minor in public relations. 

For Connor, the best part of the job is getting to know other people and collaborating with other students who are just as passionate about journalism and justice.
