College of Health and Human Services events for students to participate in this summer

Summer break doesn't have to mean a break from campus connections at Eastern Michigan University. The College of Health and Human Services at EMU has some upcoming events for students to participate in this summer.

The following events, although hosted by CHHS, are open to any and all EMU students.

Canvas and Kabobs

For those who enjoy painting, the Canvas and Kabobs get-together will include painting on canvases, relaxing with friends and eating fruit kabobs.

This event will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2026, 12-3 p.m. in 201 Marshall Hall.

Students can drop in at any time.

For more information, students should contact Elena Carlson at 734-487-0921 or ecarls14@emich.edu.

Fun Tees and Tasty Treats

Wanting something new to wear? Students can bring a shirt, a hat, a pillowcase or whatever they desire to the Fun Tees and Tasty Treats event to decorate with fabric paint. Apple sandwiches will be available for each attendee and white T-shirts will be provided.

This event will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2026, 12-3 p.m. in 201 Marshall Hall.

Students can stop by any time.

For more information, students should contact Elena Carlson at 734-487-0921 or ecarls14@emich.edu.

"The purpose of these events is to provide continued opportunities for community and belonging over the summer," said Elena Carlson, the enrollment advising specialist at CHHS, in an email. "While many students are on summer break, we know that there are also many students who are still on campus and continue to study over the summer months, so we want to be intentional about supporting them."

Carlson stated that these events draw interest from faculty and staff, as well.

"They [these events] are a great way to connect the whole campus community," Carlson stated in the email. "Sometimes through casual conversations, students learn of new resources on campus that they didn't know of before and faculty and staff have the opportunity to connect with a student they have worked with previously or share about their career field, sparking interest and more conversation. These fun informal events can lead to meaningful conversations about resources and opportunities!"
