Matt Kirk leads MAC with 13 doubles after home-opening series at Oestrike Stadium

Sheets of freezing rain periodically plummeted the baseball diamond, and gusts of wind reaching 25 miles per hour took ball caps off of players' heads flying all over Oestrike Stadium on Saturday, March 25, when the Eastern Michigan University baseball team played their second home game of the year.

EMU baseball's Josh Kross climbs to third in MAC rankings with 23rd RBI during set back at Butler University

Josh Kross (Brunswick, Ohio) extended his team-high hitting streak to eight games on Tuesday, March 21, when he produced three hits on five trips to the plate against Butler University inside of Bulldog Park in Indianapolis, Indiana. The sophomore transfer from Toledo did not see any action in his freshman year with the Rockets but has quietly become one of the most valuable bats for this Eagles baseball team.

EMU baseball wins third consecutive series after besting WMU Broncos 2-1

The Eastern Michigan University baseball team continued its Mid-American Conference campaign on Saturday, March 18, when the Eagles met the Western Michigan University Broncos for a three-game series to be played over two days. The series was originally set to be played in Kalamazoo, Mich, but due to weather conditions, the games were played in Bowling Green, Ky, on the campus of Western Kentucky University instead.

EMU baseball team continues hot streak; Eagles start MAC schedule with 2-1 series victory over Akron Zips

The Eastern Michigan University baseball team began its Mid-American Conference campaign on Friday, March 10, when the Eagles met the University of Akron Zips for a three-game series on Skeeles Field in Akron, Ohio. The Eagles (8-5, 2-1 MAC) won their fifth and sixth consecutive games on Friday and Saturday before seeing the win streak snapped on Sunday when the team dropped a tough battle to the Zips (5-9, 2-1 MAC) in extra innings.

Eagles baseball goes 1-2 in weekend series with Evansville Aces

The Eastern Michigan University baseball team traveled to Evansville, IN, over the weekend of Feb. 24-26, for its second three-game series of the season. The team took on the University of Evansville Aces in a series that would see the Eagles (2-4, 0-0 MAC) win 5-2 on Friday, fall 9-7 on Saturday, and drop Sunday’s game by the score of 5-3.

Eagles best Broncos, 66-59, in back-and-forth I-94 battle

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team avoided the I-94 sweep and got back into the win column after dropping their previous five games when the Eagles (7-21, 4-11 MAC) defeated the Western Michigan University Broncos (7-21, 3-12 MAC), 66-59, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

EMU baseball kicks off 2023 campaign with three-game series against Northern Kentucky

The Eastern Michigan University baseball team got its season started in Hoover, Alabama, on Friday, Feb. 17, when the Eagles began a three-game series against the Northern Kentucky University Norse. EMU dropped its season opener on Friday, 9-2, and lost a tough game, 5-4, late on Saturday. The Eagles salvaged the weekend on Sunday and avoided the sweep by defeating NKU, 13-9.

EMU men's basketball remains winless in February; drops Valentine's Day game to Akron, 78-51

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team (6-20, 3-10 MAC) dropped its fourth consecutive game on Tuesday, Feb. 14, when the University of Akron (18-8, 10-3 MAC) defeated EMU, 78-51, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center. The Eagles posted a 6.7 percent three-point shooting percentage, their lowest of the season, as the team could only get one long ball to go through the net on 15 attempts.

Newlyn Stephenson wins weight throw at GVSU Big Meet

The Eastern Michigan University men’s and women’s track and field teams were in Allendale, MI on Friday, Feb. 10, at Grand Valley State University to compete in the GVSU Big Meet where the men took four top-five finishes along with three personal bests, while the women recorded three top-10 finishes and saw five personal bests as a unit.

Acuff and Bates combine for 62 in loss to Buffalo

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team wrapped up a two-game road trip on Tuesday, Feb. 7 when the Eagles came up short in New York to the University at Buffalo by a score of 102-97 inside of Alumni Arena.

Ce'Nara Skanes records career-best six steals in loss to Ohio

Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball player Ce’Nara Skanes made her impression Wednesday night, leading the Eagles in nearly all categories. While the team lost the game 65-55 to Ohio University, Skanes scored 18 points, grabbed nine boards, dished four assists, and tallied a career-best six steals. Skanes’ 8.1 rebounds are currently fourth in the Mid-American Conference.

Emoni Bates showcases superstar talents in Toledo; scores career-high 43 points

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team began a two-game road trip on Tuesday, Jan. 24 with a game against the Toledo Rockets inside of Savage Arena. EMU dropped their fifth straight game as Toledo rallied to overcome an 11-point deficit late to win the contest 84-79. However, it was sophomore Emoni Bates who stole the show and had a historic night as he dropped a career-high 43 points.

Ozzy-Momodu finishes with game-high 22 points

The Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team was in Kent, OH on Wednesday, Jan 18 where the Eagles fell to Kent State 79-66 inside of the M.A.C Center, despite senior Irekpitan Ozzy-Momodu leading all scorers with 22 points which is a new high at EMU for the center.

EMU men’s basketball team drops road rivalry game to WMU

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team (4-12, 1-2 MAC) traveled 101 miles west on Interstate 94 to Kalamazoo on Jan. 10 for their 117th matchup of all time with Western Michigan University (5-11, 1-2 MAC) on the hardwood. 13 of the 20 players that saw minutes in this installment of the intrastate rivalry were Michigan natives. Sophomore Emoni Bates, the Ypsilanti product, led EMU with 23 points, but it was the WMU senior from Grand Rapids, Lamar Norman Jr., and his 25 points that were ultimately too much for the Eagles in an 85-79 defeat to the Broncos on Tuesday night.

Comeback isn't enough; EMU men's basketball falls to Illinois State, 87-81

The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team traveled to Normal, IL on Wednesday, Dec. 7, for a matchup with Illinois State University inside Redbird Arena. After trailing by six points at halftime, the Eagles fought back in the second half making it a back-and-forth game before ultimately falling by the same deficit they found themselves in at halftime as the Redbirds defeated the Eagles 87-81.

Bates and Farrakhan combine for 51 points to help EMU basketball snap six game losing skid

The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team made the long flight to Miami, Florida for a showdown with Florida International University on Wednesday, Nov. 30, inside the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. The Eagles snapped a six-game losing streak behind an electric second-half effort where EMU outscored FIU 53-33 fueled by sophomores Emoni Bates’s and Noah Farrakhan’s combined 40 points to come from behind and secure the 80-68 victory over the Panthers.

17 second half points from Bates not enough; men’s basketball comes up short at Bradley

The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team made its way south to Peoria, IL on Tuesday, Nov. 15, to take on Bradley University inside of Carver Arena in a preliminary campus game of the Cancún Challenge college basketball tournament. An unrelenting Braves’ defense never allowed the Eagles to establish any sort of offensive rhythm as EMU fell to Bradley, 89-61.

ZaNiya Nelson leads EMU women’s basketball past SUIE in first road game of 2022

The Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team traveled to Edwardsville, IL on Sunday, Nov. 13 to take on the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Cougars inside the First Community Arena at the Vadalabene Center. EMU dominated down low in the team’s first road game of the season, scoring 65 percent of their points in the paint en route to a 71-62 victory over SIUE.
