Eastern Michigan University’s School of Art & Design hosted free, on-campus spring art workshops for high school students on Saturday, March 16, with two morning workshops running from 9:30 a.m. to noon and two afternoon workshops running from 1-3:30 p.m.

Madi Diaz, the indie singer-songwriter and musician, is currently on tour for her most recent record “Weird Faith.” She stopped at The Ark in Ann Arbor, Mich., to perform on March 5. Diaz welcomed folk singer-songwriter and musician Jack Van Cleaf to open the show. In a partnership with the Human Rights Campaign and Propellor, Diaz encouraged attendees to take action for a chance to win an autographed setlist.

Victoria or V Walton, a multidisciplinary ceramic sculptor, also creating video works, visited Eastern Michigan University on Feb. 6 for an evening artist lecture and Q&A session in Halle Library’s auditorium. Walton was invited by EMU’s School of Art and Design and the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies to speak about their practice.

Aryana Jharia is an Eastern Michigan University junior studying secondary education and English. Jharia is a self-published poet, astrologer and tarot reader, and educator. Jharia is currently working with Reha, a Vedic astrology app, Aspiring Educators of Michigan, Advocates for Youth’s Emergency Contraceptive Collective, and Mission Menstruation to bring about positive change in the community.

The Michigan Firehouse Museum and Education Center is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a Fireman’s Ball on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the museum. The Fireman’s Ball is not only a fundraiser for the museum, but a fun event where all, members and the general public, are welcome. The dress code is “boots, black ties, and bling.”

Eastern Michigan University’s 102nd homecoming is here with students, faculty, and staff joining together in celebration. Events are set to run all week beginning on Monday, Oct. 2, and ending on Saturday, Oct. 7. On the final day of EMU's homecoming, the EMU football team will take on Ball State at Rynearson Stadium.
