We all have experienced it: The urge to hit the snooze button on the alarm clock early in the morning. That fleeting thought of, “Is class really necessary today?” That needed cup of roasted Starbucks coffee or a shot of RedBull and 5 Hour Energy, getting through morning, noon and night.

I am beginning to embark on a journey to spotlight some of Eastern Michigan University’s students’ fashion styles for the fall, ranging from trendy and kooky to vintage inspired and punk. The bottom line is that no style is exempt from being showcased.

“Paddle Your Own Canoe” by Nick Offerman is a hilarious and charming guide to living life deliciously. Who is Nick Offerman you may ask? You may know him as the character Ron Swanson from “Parks and Recreation” on NBC. With a love for red meat, his luxuriously perfect facial hair and a hard day’s work, Offerman offers up his nonconformist view on how to properly live life.
For some, San Diego Comic Con is the convention of all conventions for cosplayers (people who dress up in costumes). But for many, Youmacon 2013, located in Detroit, sparks a higher interest.

“I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy, a Yankee Doodle, do or die,” a group of women sings in happiness. “A real live nephew of my Uncle Sam, born on the Fourth of July…”
Spoilers are impossible to avoid in “The House of Hades,” Rick Riordan’s fourth book of “The Heroes of Olympus” series.
When I was a kid, Halloween meant trick-or-treating with my brothers and sometimes some other neighborhood kids. We would dress up and hop in a van, and while driving from one location to the next, we would compare our loot. One neighbor always handed out homemade popcorn balls. Packets of Skittles, Smarties, and M&M’s would disappear into our tummies between houses. The older kids would try to convince me that one of my Milky Ways was worth two Tootsie Rolls. Another year there was a fierce competition for who could get the most Butterfingers. I didn’t care – the candy I most wanted were Snickers.
I love Halloween. Not so much for the costumes, but for the candy, the Devil’s Night pranks and in anticipation of what the girls’ costumes will look like. Who doesn’t love curling up with some apple cider with a splash of vodka, and watching “Friday the 13th”? The energy is really dope though and it has me thinking of some great horror themed hip-hip songs. So here we go, without further ado, my top 10 hip-hop songs for Halloween.
If a woman wants to dress provocatively for Halloween, she can choose anything from a police officer to a sexy Disney Princess, but now, she can even dress as an eating disorder.
Gather ‘round the metaphorical campfire and I’ll tell you a story, alright? Eastern Michigan University has its share of creepy legends, like how Starkweather Hall is supposedly haunted by Mary Starkweather and Jones and Goddard have some thing about a faceless janitor or something. But I’m willing to bet you’ve never heard of the Echo ghost.
