‘The Host’ better than expected

When it comes to the “Twilight” Saga, I’m a lukewarm fan. The plot was vaguely intriguing, the writing fairly compelling, the characters surprisingly relatable, but it wasn’t anything that blew my mind.


	EMU is celebrating its 1,005 international students Feb. 11-14.

Out of the more than seven billion people in the world spanning across roughly 196 countries, Eastern Michigan University has 1,005 international students from 81 countries. During the week of Feb. 11-14, EMU plans to acknowledge these students with their own event.

It takes real courage to go on stage and tell a room full of strangers about painful moments from your past. The theme for the Eastern Michigan University Campus Life Storytellers Lounge last Thursday was scars, and even with such personal subject matter the atmosphere was relaxed and intimate.

Last year’s “Armor On” EP wasn’t Dawn Richard’s first release. It wasn’t even her first solo LP. In 2005, before she was ever a member of Danity Kane (whose hit “Damaged” is among the greatest pop songs of 2008) or Diddy-Dirty Money, she released “Been a While,” an album that has been almost completely forgotten.

Unless you never use the Internet, it’s impossible to never have heard of Pinterest. On the online virtual bulletin board, you can collect gorgeous photos of places, clothes, food, hairstyles and can even be taken to the website the photo came from simply by clicking on it. This means you get instructions, a recipe or a store cart for ordering.



Several performances were held last Sunday during the 2010 Chinese Week  kick off gala, held in the EMU student center ballroom. The event was hosted by Mei Hua Tong Xue Hui, or the American Chinese Students Association.

Women’s Resource Center to present ‘Vagina Monologues’ in Student Center

Nineteen years ago, Eve Ensler’s creation, “The Vagina Monologues,” started from a conversation with a close friend over womanly dilemmas. As the subject switched to vaginas, her friend’s unfavorable outlook on her lady parts was quite peculiar and made Ensler evaluate how she felt about her own. This revelation made her wonder how women thought of their vaginas, and their personal testimonies would channel a perspective on discussing womanhood and sexuality.

Since it opened in 1978, Apple Annie’s Vintage Clothing & Jim MacDonald’s Antiques in Depot Town has seen a lot of change. The neighborhood has changed, the business of dealing in collectible items has changed and the store itself has even morphed and expanded from its original layout.
