Rushdie writes complex, magical title

If “The Neverending Story” and “The Phantom Tollbooth” had a baby and gave it an X-box, the result would be “Luka and the Fire of Life,” by renowned author Salman Rushdie. It is a return to a world and family introduced in a previous work, “Haroun and the Sea of Stories,” but this new story is centered around the adventure of the youngest — and newest — member of the Khalifa family, Luka.

Man Man releases latest album

Upon the release of their previous album, “Rabbit Habits,” Honus Honus, the front man of mischievous noisemakers Man Man, explained the manic sonic textures at the onset of opener, “Mister Jung Stuffed,” were intended to sound like an overloaded ATM.

“Why the heck do we need to talk about sex?” asked a spunky, conservative Christian woman of about 19 with a smug and triumphant smirk. “Because people like you exist,” I replied with a look of genuine concern and exasperation. “One day you’ll find Jesus and realize that you’re giving away your precious gift of sex and damning yourself to hell,” she said, mimicking my facial expression.
