Final arguments begin in trial of Ed Thomas

The final arguments for the trial of Ed Thomas in the murder of EMU wide receiver Demarius Reed started at 8:30, Monday. Thomas is accused of felony murder or assisting in murder, as well as armed robbery. Nimish Gantra, assistant prosecuting attorney for Washtenaw County began the closing arguments.

YPD investigating armed robbery

The Ypsilanti Police Department is investigating a reported armed robbery, which occurred around 1:30 a.m. Monday on the 900-block of Railroad street north of campus.



Ypsilanti Officials Work for a Safer Community

Washtenaw County officials will formally cooperate to provide a safer Ypsilanti community with the announcement of the Eastern Washtenaw Safety Alliance (EWSA), the parties announced Tuesday. According to Eastern Michigan University’s website, EWSA is a coalition of top area officials and law enforcement leaders spearheaded by State Rep.

Ypsilanti Police investigating criminal sexual assault

The Ypsilanti Police Department is investigating a report of a criminal sexual assault case that happened at around 11 PM, Tuesday, June 24th. According to a timely warning sent by Eastern Michigan University’s Department of Public Safety, the victim was a male and not a student at EMU.

Williams is director of School of Nursing

Michael Williams has had a long successful journey, from being the first undergraduate to be accepted to work in an Intensive Care Unit to officially becoming the director and an associate professor of the School of Nursing at Eastern Michigan University.

Eastern offering leadership minor in the fall

Eastern Michigan University has a new minor coming this fall called interdisciplinary leadership, which is set to expand knowledge and personal awareness skill sets in hopes of creating a worldly and organized student upon graduation.


BrotherHOOD creates sense of community

The program’s “barbershop” events have turned out to one of the most successful facets of the initiative. These events are aimed at creating a sense of community among men of color on campus and provide them with a support network at EMU.
