Students reflect on DialoguEMU

During DialoguEMU’s last meeting on Thursday, students split into three small groups and reflected on what they liked and didn’t like about DialoguEMU this semester. One of the questions had to do with how the group members would describe DialoguEMU to people who may not know what it is.

Eastern Michigan University Police Chief Bob Heighes gave a presentation about the Department of Public Safety’s plan to expand patrols and operations in off-campus areas at the Board of Regents meeting in Welch Hall Tuesday afternoon.

Dec. 6 A subject was arrested operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol at Washtenaw and Cornell Street at 12:48 a.m. A burglary took place in Goddard Hall at 7:05 a.m.




	EMU students, faculty and alumni gathered at Tuesday’s Board of Regents meeting to oppose the university’s affiliation with the EAA.

Faculty and students from Eastern Michigan University’s College of Education voiced their opposition to the university’s affiliation with the Education Achievement Authority to the Board of Regents on Tuesday in Welch 201.


	The EMU mobile app allows students to view a schedule of upcoming events.

Eastern Michigan University has launched a mobile app through Ellucian GO that makes it easier to access important information. The app, which can be downloaded for free from a mobile device’s app store, provides up-to-date news and information on current events in the EMU community.

Dec. 3 A student reported an incident of sexual assault that happened last year at 12:15 a.m. A student reported their cell phone stolen from their pocket in the Dining Commons at 7:55 p.m.

Actor dies tragically, students react

On Saturday, Nov. 30, “The Fast and the Furious” actor Walker, 40, died in a car crash after the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT that he was a passenger in ran into a tree and a concrete pole, which then burst into flames in Valencia, Calif.

Nelson Mandela dies at age 95

Nelson Mandela, the founding father of an apartheid-free South Africa, died Friday around 1 a.m. South African time at 95-years-old. According to NBC news, Mandela was suffering from a respiratory illness and had been receiving health care at home for the past six months. President Obama followed the announcement of his death with a eulogy from the White House. “He no longer belongs to us,” Obama said.


Women take part in university’s Hijab Day

Volunteers from the Muslim Student Association spent time in the Women’s Resource Center on Wednesday fitting hijabs, or headscarves worn by female Muslims, on women who wanted to participate in the university’s Hijab Day.

Nov. 30 A female subject was found passed out with a bloody nose on a sidewalk on Emmet Street at 2:49 a.m. She is not a student and was transported to the hospital for her injury.

Black Friday can bring people together, improve the economy

On Friday, consumers throughout America participated in the first shopping day of the holiday season, known as Black Friday. Numerous stores such as Wal-Mart, Kmart, JC Penney and Macy’s opened their doors to the public at 5 a.m. or earlier to give consumers the opportunity to get great deals on holiday gifts for their loved ones.

Moot court team goes undefeated

Eastern Michigan University’s moot court team went undefeated last month, beating 25 teams at the regional moot trial conference in Saginaw, Mich.
