Fall applications, admissions rise

The Eastern Michigan University Division of Student Affairs and Management is reporting an increase in student applications and admissions for this fall.


	Robert Heighes, who has 28 years experience in the Department of Public Safety, is 1995 Eastern graduate.

Heighes rehired as interim chief

For the second time in four years, Lieutenant Robert Heighes has been named interim Chief of Police to Eastern Michigan University’s Department of Public Safety.

EMU ranked as a top gay-friendly university

Eastern Michigan University was recently named one of the top gay-friendly universities in the country by the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender-friendly Campus Climate Index. The Campus Climate Index was developed in 2001 by a team of LGBT researchers as a response to campuses needing a way to assess their LGBT-friendly practices and policies.

Campus: June 21- At 1:50 p.m., a subject was arrested on West Michigan Avenue and Adams Street for possessing a stolen license plate and providing false information to police.

Campus updates to be finished by Fall '11

Construction on Eastern Michigan University’s main classroom building, Pray-Harrold, will be completed and ready August 31 for the first day of fall classes. While Mark Jefferson’s science complex addition was opened last December, renovations to the “old” section of the Mark Jefferson building are ongoing and are expected to be substantially completed by the Fall 2012 semester. EMU’s Physical Plant Planning and Design Manager Seán Braden said the renovations for both projects are on schedule and on budget.



Children's Institute moves

Two key organizations on Eastern Michigan University’s campus will be closer than ever as the Fletcher School Building undergoes renovation, allowing for The Children’s Institute to move in by next fall.
