EMU Campus Climate Assessment launched by DCCAC

Eastern Michigan paid an additional deposit toward contaminated land

As of June 4, the university has payed an additional $400,000 towards the purchase of an 11 acre property across from Eastern's Ann St. parking lot. The property is considered a "Brownfields property" by the EPA. This is the second deposit paid by the university after an initial $45,000.

Zeta Sigma Chi hosts Beat the DJ

On Thursday, October 18, Campus Life and Zeta Sigma Chi Multicultural Society co-hosted an event called “Beat the DJ” in Student Center room 310AB. Team “We Here to Win” took the ultimate victory with a total of 4138 points, becoming the inaugural winners of Beat the DJ.

Business and Finance Committee pushes to see further fundraising attempts from organizations and club sports

The Business and Finance Committee allocated a total of $2,684.91 to one club sport and four student organizations. The meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 15 was successful, as all clubs and organizations received the full amount of money requested. Senators did bring up the need for students to focus on at least some self-fundraising in the future.

On Oct. 14, 50 years later, EMU students gathered in room 270 to learn more about and discuss their thoughts regarding Stonewall. Students had the option of reading five articles, each of them being a different perspective on Stonewall.

City Council approves ordinance that will allow recreational marijuana businesses in the city

Ypsilanti City Council voted on Tuesday, Oct. 15 to allow recreational marijuana businesses in the city. The ordinance passed 5-2, with Mayor Pro-Tem Lois Richardson and Councilman Anthony Morgan voting against it.

Created Equal takes a stand on EMU campus

The organization stages a protest on abortion every year on the south side of campus next to Porter and King Hall. Office of Community Wellness donates 100 iClickers to aid students

In a Senate Meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 8, Speaker of the House Taylor Lawrence shares the progress of the iClicker project. The Office of Community Wellness donated 100 iClickers, and Lawrence applied for a grant from the Women in Philanthropy to expand the project. This project will allow students access to tools to enhance their education without having to spend more money.
