The initiative features a cross-sectional survey of EMU students, faculty and staff. The committees findings will help identify strengths and challenges of making Eastern a more diverse and inclusive campus.

Zeta Sigma Chi hosts Beat the DJ

On Thursday, October 18, Campus Life and Zeta Sigma Chi Multicultural Society co-hosted an event called “Beat the DJ” in Student Center room 310AB. Team “We Here to Win” took the ultimate victory with a total of 4138 points, becoming the inaugural winners of Beat the DJ.

Created Equal takes a stand on EMU campus

The organization Created Equal displayed graphic images of abortion on campus on Oct. 9. The organization stages a protest on abortion every year on the south side of campus next to Porter and King Hall. Student Government provided students with information on how to avoid the area if they did not want to see the display.

EMU alumnus premieres film When It Breaks at the State Theatre

On Sat. October 12, EMU alumnus Todd Tue premiered his film 'When It Breaks' at the State Theatre in Ann Arbor. The documentary film follows special education teacher and musician Konrad Wert, also known as his stage name Possessed by Paul James, as he tours the country with his family for a year.

EMU's first ever accessibility crew working to make the theater experience enjoyable for all

Eastern Michigan University’s first ever accessibility crew will take action this winter during the EMU Theatre’s presentation of “Still Life with Iris.” Under the guidance of Elena SV Flys, EMU assistant professor of arts administration, the accessibility crew is responsible for designing the access services that will be available for three of the six performances that will take place in Quirk Theatre in Dec.

Office of Community Wellness donates 100 iClickers to aid students

In a Senate Meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 8, Speaker of the House Taylor Lawrence shares the progress of the iClicker project. The Office of Community Wellness donated 100 iClickers, and Lawrence applied for a grant from the Women in Philanthropy to expand the project. This project will allow students access to tools to enhance their education without having to spend more money.
