Eastern Michigan University classes remain open, while the Early College Alliance and Ypsilanti Community Schools cancel classes because of dangerous driving conditions due to high snowfall in the area.
Three shots were fired on November 1 at 10 p.m. at 212 Stevens Dr, Ypsilanti, Michigan. This location falls within the bounds of Ypsilanti Charter Township. It is unknown if the suspect has been apprehend or the condition of the victim.

During the Senate meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 5, Resolution 106-08, which was a proposal to start an ad-hoc committee to focus on the issue of food and housing insecurities on campus, was presented to senators. Senators also discussed Resolution 106-09, which would establish a fundraiser for the Student Emergency Fund where Student Government would match student donations that met certain criteria. Both of these resolutions were passed in unanimous votes.

A non-profit organization, Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels was broken into the morning of Oct. 25.,with the safe being stolen. The staff reported the incident to the community on their Facebook page. No further updates have been released.

Haab's Restaurant was robbed at gunpoint by two masked men on Halloween night around 7:48 p.m. The two suspects fled the scene after taking the cash register by demand. The two suspects have not been found.
The Business and Finance Committee was considerate and cautious when deciding how much money to allocate to organizations during the meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 29. The committee didn’t give every group the full amount that each of them originally requested. A total of $8,318.71 was allocated during this meeting.
The EMU Board of Regents approved a new academic program for a Bachelors of Science in Quantitative Economics at its regular meeting on Friday, Oct. 25. The program will commence in the next academic year of 2020.
At the Financial and Investment Committee meeting on Friday, Oct. 25, Kevin Kucera, Vice President and Chief Enrollment Officer, provided an update on the results yielded from the Education First Opportunity Scholarship (EFOS) since it was put in place in the fall of 2012.
Since the department’s formalization in 2016, the Dean of Students has received nearly 450 requests of notification for professors of student emergency absence. The office will provide solutions to students encompassing a variety of situations including student hospitalization, physical or mental health concerns, personal crisis or family emergency concerns.
EFA welcomes all EMU students, even if they have no experience in film whatsoever. They make short films, host workshops and provide mentorships and networking for those who want to work professionally in film. The group meets every Thursday from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. in room 330 at the Student Center during the Fall and Winter semesters.
The Student Center patio was filled with eager pumpkin-carving contest participants on Oct. 29. At the event, students were able to create all kinds of fun and spooky designs to celebrate Halloween at EMU. Not only could students participate in pumpkin-carving, they could also listen to music provided by DJ LiXxer, take Halloween photos in the photo booth, enjoy free hot chocolate and apple cider and enter giveaways from Amazon and the EMU Bookstore.
