EMU wrestling falls to Hoosiers by decision

The Eastern Michigan University men’s wrestling team fell to the Indiana University Hoosiers Dec. 16 in their final dual meet of 2012 at Bowen Field House. The teams were tied 18-18 when the tie-breaker rules were brought out to determine a final winner.

Men’s basketball lose 74-48

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team went to Chicago Saturday to face the University of Illinois-Chicago, and left having only led twice. The Eagles suffered a commanding loss to the Flames 74-48.

Believe it or not, not everybody is a fan of snow in the winter. Believe it or not, your stressful fall semester is just about over. And believe it or not, your Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team (6-3 overall) is undefeated so far at home this season.



Eagles drop home game to U of M, 55-43

The Eastern Michigan University Eagles lost a tough matchup in front of a predominantly maize and blue crowd of 636 at the Convocation Center to the University of Michigan Wolverines 55-43 Tuesday night. The Eagles are 1-8 on the season, while the Wolverines are 8-2.

The Eastern Michigan University women’s track and field team started the season off Friday with a dominant victory at the Eagle Holiday Meet over Central Michigan University, Bowling Green State University, the University of Toledo and Oakland University.

Talented team suffers losing season

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team set the bar high over the weekend for the school’s performance over Big Ten basketball teams. In the Eagles’ 47-44 win Saturday at the Convocation Center, they sent the message that the team was in it to win it.



Defense key in EMU win over Boilermakers

In front of 1,790 fans, the Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team earned the biggest win of coach Rob Murphy’s era thus far, defeating the Purdue Boilermakers 47-44 Saturday at the Convocation Center.

Men’s wrestling loses to OU Bobcats 17-16

The Eastern Michigan University men’s wrestling team opened its Mid-American Conference season with a loss against the Ohio University Bobcats 17-16 Sunday in Athens, Ohio. The Eagles are 3-4 and 0-1 in the MAC.

In response to coach English controversy

I’ve been getting a lot of feedback, positive and negative, about the Dec. 3 column I wrote about Eastern Michigan University’s head football coach Ron English, and I’d like to clear the air on a few matters.


Football fallout

The Eastern Michigan University Athletic Department and football team announced Tuesday offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Ken Karcher is “no longer a member of the EMU coaching staff.” On the heels of a 2-10 season, it was clear that a change needed to be made and Karcher ended up being the program’s choice.
