Eagles get little support in MAC title defeat

For those who didn’t know, Eastern Michigan’s women’s basketball team became the first fifth seed to make an appearance in the Mid American Conference tournament. It did so by sending the No. 1-seeded Toledo home Friday and played in the championship game Saturday.

Gymnastics 4-9 after KSU loss

The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team lost Saturday to No. 20 Kent State University 194.900 – 194.025 at Bowen Fieldhouse. The Eagles record falls to 4-9 overall, 2-4 in MAC play. But Coach Steve Wilce sees the good in the loss for his squad’s morale.

Men fall to Akron in first round of MAC

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team lost in the first round of the Mid-American Conference tournament, 67-53, to Akron University Tuesday night in Ohio.

Tennis is family value for junior Westerink

The Eastern Michigan University tennis team has eight players on its entire roster. Every player on the roster attended high school in a different country. Some tennis players came from India, Australia, Bulgaria, and China. Junior Miriam Westerink is from Rheden, Netherlands. She went to school at Thomas a Kempis College in Arnhem, Holland. At Thomas a Kempis College, she obtained a No. 13 ranking in national junior singles, a No. 180 senior singles ranking and a No. 179 senior doubles national ranking.

Defense helps Eagles beat Huskies 62-35

The Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team overtook Northern Illinois University on its way to a 62-35 win Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center. The Eagles are 18-9 and 9-4 in the Mid-American Conference. The Huskies are 11-15 and 5-8 in the MAC.



Senior Jaclyn Caro warms up for the upcoming softball season. Caro finished with a 1-5 record last season.

Improvement on horizon

After a less than stellar 2010 season, the Eastern Michigan University softball team is looking forward to turning things around in 2011 and have its sights set on the Mid-American Conference Championship in May.
