Indie art fest, local music feature Ypsi

Since Ypsilanti was selected to take part in Michigan’s Downtowns program in 2007, there has been steady development in the historic downtown areas on and around Michigan Avenue. Ypsi’s own Club Divine was revamped earlier this year, becoming what is now the edgier and intimate Savoy, a new music venue with a standing capacity of 700, located at 23 N. Washington Street.

EMU has hotspots to escape winter cold

It took a bit of walking, talking, perusing and quite a few interviews to bring you Eastern Michigan University’s best and most loved cold-weather hangout spots. But here you have it, a chance, and hopefully, some encouragement to get to know EMU’s campus and Ypsilanti area at large, in spite of the cold months to come. The list could go on, but here’s a start.

Storytellers stir hearts

Appropriately, ‘Home” was the theme of Campus Life’s first Storytellers Lounge, from 9-11 p.m Thursday in the Student Center’s SkyLounge. The atmosphere was accordingly intimate, candid, personal, serious and simultaneously light-hearted. Spotlights illuminated the stage and soft colors like Christmas lights hung over attendees, allowing students and Campus Life staffers to let their hair down.

Julez DeShetler and Queso Tone catch up after a short hiatus due to illness and someones birthday. The pair talk about their semesters and the final big events of the year, the Eastern Echo Media Gala and Rock The Patio. The latter playing host to Eagletainment's very own Queso Tone as a musical performance, with the shows closing act Anthony Roperti a former guest of the show.
