Eastern Michigan University's Board of Regents voted unanimously to increase tuition by 7.8 percent on Tuesday. The $25 more students will be paying per credit hour means that the average in-state freshman is going to be paying $10,417 a year, according to The Detroit Free Press.

First Lady Michelle Obama spoke Friday at Wayne State University to around 100 future Eastern Michigan University students. It was a part of Detroit's College Signing Day, which celebrates Detroit students moving on to college from high school. There were among over 2,000 students from over 40 schools across the city in attendance, according to the Detroit News.

A gas leak at the LeForge Road Bridge on Monday afternoon cut off parts of Ypsilanti from Superior Township. Ypsilanti Fire Chief Max Anthouard said they got the call about 3 p.m. Anthouard said that the leak occurred accidentally when a tree trimmer on the north side of the LeForge Road Bridge hit an unmarked gas line.

“In Her Shoes: Forging Paths at EMU” is a new exhibit that opened Thursday in the McKenny Gallery. According to a press release from the university’s Department of Communications, the exhibit will be about the paths women have forged and the barriers women have broken both at Eastern and beyond, from 1849 to the present.
