Swimmer earns weekly award

Putting team before individual accolades is what Mike Fisher believes in and the pay-off was realized. For the first time in his career, Fisher was named the Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week on Feb. 3.

Feb. 1 Officers responded to a noise complaint in Walton Hall at 12:59 a.m. and found a group of underage students with a small amount of alcohol in a dorm room. The students were not charged criminally, but may face consequences under the Student Code of Conduct.



Safety Week kicks off with ‘Snitches’ talk

Safety Week at Eastern Michigan University kicked off Monday night with an event titled “Do Snitches Get Stitches?” Student Body President Desmond Miller hosted the event, which was an open dialogue about the stigma of snitching and the violent crime problem at EMU and in the city of Ypsilanti.

Diversity Council holds Around the World in One Night

Around the World in One Night, hosted by Eastern Michigan University’s Diversity Council, was held on Jan. 31 in the Student Center Ballroom. The event revealed how diverse EMU’s campus really is, with food, music and displays which all centered around different cultures.

Jan. 28 A female student reported compromising pictures of her posted on Instagram by a male friend at 11:07 a.m. The male friend is not a student, and this investigation is ongoing.

Jan. 24 Books were stolen from a donation box outside the university bookstore between 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. by a non-student subject. The subject attempted to sell the books back to the university bookstore unsuccessfully and then successfully sold the books to another bookstore. Police were able to identify the thief by reviewing security footage and charge him with theft.




MJ tribute auditions bring out EMU’s talent

Eastern Michigan University students better clear their schedules for April 2, because EagleFIT’s unique production of “This Is It,” a Michael Jackson tribute, is not something you’ll want to miss. Auditions for the show were held on Thursday, and a wide array of musicians, dancers, singers and actors eagerly awaited their chance to hit the stage and make Jackson proud.

The ad-hoc student government committee on energy and sustainability held a meeting Thursday to discuss hydraulic fracturing, better known as fracking.


Alexis Micheltree (Fr. Moon Twp., PA) won both 100 and 200 backstroke events.

Men's, women's swim teams win final home meet of season

The Eastern Michigan University swimming teams closed out the home schedule with victories over Wayne State University, Mid-American Conference opponent Ball State University Friday and Saturday. The men’s team beat Ball State 163-115 On the women’s side, Eastern Michigan defeated BSU 185-112 and OSU 228-7.

Julez DeShetler and Queso Tone catch up after a short hiatus due to illness and someones birthday. The pair talk about their semesters and the final big events of the year, the Eastern Echo Media Gala and Rock The Patio. The latter playing host to Eagletainment's very own Queso Tone as a musical performance, with the shows closing act Anthony Roperti a former guest of the show.
