Police Blotter: June 9- June 21

The police blotter is a report of the criminal goings-on on and around Eastern Michigan University, during the weeks of June 9 through June 21.

Sunday, June 9

An individual was arrested for operating while intoxicated during a traffic stop at 2:23 a.m. at North Hamilton Street and West Forest Avenue. The case remains open.

An individual violated their conditional release by driving with a restricted license and no insurance. Police found them violating their release during a traffic stop at Leforge Road and Villa Drive at 17:04 p.m. The case remains open.

An individual was found driving while their license was suspended during a traffic stop at Harriet and Adams Streets at 10:05 p.m. The case closed June 10.

Monday, June 10

No crimes reported.

Tuesday, June 11

A driver was found without insurance or license during a traffic stop at Leforge Road and North Huron River Drive at 12:13 a.m. The case closed later that day.

A dumpster in Cornell Courts E was used without permission The crime occurred on June 10 at 7:40 p.m. and was reported on June 11 at 10:58 a.m. The case closed on June 14.

A hit and run occurred at the Bowen Lot on June 10 between 10:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m., with the driver failing to stop and identify. The crime was reported on June 11 at 4:45 p.m. and the case closed June 12.

A case of animal cruelty was reported at Woburn and Belmont Drives when an injured kitten was found and reported. The kitten was found at 5:58 p.m. and the case remains open.

Wednesday, June 12

A driver was found without insurance during a traffic stop at Cornell Road and North Huron Drive. The stop occurred at 12:53 a.m. and the case closed later that day.

A driver was found without insurance during a traffic stop at West Forest Avenue and North Adams Street. The stop occurred at 4:06 p.m. and the case closed later that day.

An individual was found drinking alcohol in public at North Washington and Pearl Streets at 4:30 p.m. The case closed June 14.

A driver was found with improper license plates, no insurance and an expired license during a traffic stop at South Hamilton Street and westbound 194. The stop occurred at 4:50 p.m. and the case closed June 13.

Thursday, June 13

A driver was found without insurance or their license during a traffic stop at Emmet Street and College Place. The stop occurred at 12:27 a.m. and the case closed later that day.

A driver was found without insurance during a traffic stop at Cornell Road and North Huron Drive. The stop occurred at 12:53 a.m. and the case closed later that day.

An individual fled from a traffic stop at West Cross and North Hamilton Streets. When police caught the fleeing individual, they discovered that the driver had been operating while intoxicated. The individual was cited for eluding police, transporting an open container of liquor and having a blood alcohol content of .17% or more. The case remains open.

An individual was cited for disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and obstruction for repeatedly hindering on duty EMU police officers. The citation occurred at 514 Emmet Street at 6:13 p.m. The case remains open.

An individual reported intimidating phone calls at 7:50 p.m. The calls happened on university property and the case remains open.  

Friday, June 14

A driver was found without insurance during a traffic stop at West Forest Avenue and North Huron Drive. The stop occurred at 12:36 a.m. and the case closed later that day.

A driver was found without insurance during a traffic stop at West Cross and North Hamilton Streets. During the stop, the vehicle’s passenger was cited for littering. The stop occurred at 2:10 a.m. and the case closed later that day.

A driver was found with a suspended license and without insurance during a traffic stop at Washtenaw Avenue and North Hewitt Road. The stop occurred at 4:23 p.m. and the case closed June 15.

A driver was issued a citation for driving with a suspended license and no insurance during a traffic stop at South Hamilton and Harriet Streets. The stop occurred at 7:58 p.m. and the case closed June 15.

Saturday, June 15

No crimes reported

Sunday, June 16

A driver failed to stop and identify during an accident at 1275 South Huron Street. The accident occurred at 2:05 p.m. and the case remains open.

Monday, June 17

A driver was found without insurance and a valid license during a traffic stop at Oakwood Street and the Student Center. The stop occurred at 12:42 a.m. and the case closed later that day.

Tuesday, June 18

A physical altercation was reported from Westview Apartments W at 3:16 a.m. The case closed later that day.

Wednesday, June 19

An individual was found possessing crack cocaine, and another with possessed drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop at 423 West Forest Avenue. The drugs and paraphernalia was found at 5:38 p.m. and the case remains open.

Thursday, June 20

No crimes reported.

Friday, June 21

A driver was found with a suspended during a traffic stop at Green Lot 1. The stop occurred at 11:12 a.m. and the case closed later that day.

An individual was cited for obstructing police after lying about their name. They were arrested on warrants at 12:10 p.m. at West Michigan Avenue and South Mansfield Street. The case closed later that day.
