Police Blotter: May 25- June 8

The police blotter is a report of the criminal goings-on on and around Eastern Michigan University, during the weeks of May 25 through June 8.

Despite a recent increase in burglaries from vehicles on campus, students say they still feel safe.

Saturday, May 25

A driver was cited for improper plates and no insurance during a traffic stop at Washtenaw Avenue and North Adams Street. The stop occurred at 5:54 p.m. and the case closed May 26.

A driver was found without insurance and smoking marijuana during a traffic stop at Washtenaw and Boston Avenues. The stop occurred at 6:15 p.m. and the case remains open.

Sunday, May 26

An individual was cited for disorderly conduct after causing a disturbance at the University Park Basketball courts. The disturbance happened at 12:13 a.m. and the case closed later that day.

Individuals damaged parking property in Alexander Lot at 4:32 a.m. The damage was reported at 6:17 a.m. and the case remains open.

Several underage persons were found smoking cigarettes in Bowman lot at 6:36 p.m. The case closed may 27.

A person was found intoxicated at the Student Center at 7:48 p.m. The case closed May 29.

Monday, May 27

Larceny was reported at the Student Center at 12:33 a.m. on May 27. The theft is believed to have occurred between 3:00 p.m. on May 10 and 3:00 p.m. on May 11. The case closed June 2.

Tuesday, May 28

A grounds worker reported cultured stone stolen from the storage yard. The theft was reported at 6:48 a.m. on May 28 and is believed to have happened between 8:00 a.m. on May 27 and 6:30 a.m. on May 28. The case closed May 30.

A club car was reported missing from EMU’s Lake House at 1:33 p.m. The car is believed to have been stolen between 2:00 p.m. on May 18 and 4:00 p.m. on May 21. The case closed on May 30.

Wednesday, May 29

A road rage altercation was reported at Cross and North Summit Streets at 10:08 a.m. The case closed May 30.

An individual was cited for public intoxication at North Washington Street and West Michigan Avenue at 8:40 p.m. The case closed later that day.

Thursday, May 30

A driver failed to stop and identify after an accident at 1275 Huron Street at 6:45 p.m. The case closed May 30. Failed to stop and identify after accident

A driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license during a stop at West Cross and North Adams Streets. The stop occurred at 4:45 p.m. and the case closed May 31.

An intoxicated individual was taken to the hospital from North Washington Street and West Michigan Avenue. The medical transport occurred at 10:13 p.m. and the case closed May 31.

Friday, May 31

EMU Police responded to an assault at 702 Emmet Street at 7:27 p.m. The case closed June 3.

During a traffic stop at Florence and Ballard Streets, an individual provided false information to the officer. The driver was cited for driving with a suspended license as well. The stop occurred at 1:07 a.m. and the case closed later that day.

Officers responded to a simple assault at the Convocation Center. The assault occurred at 8:30 p.m. and the case remains open.

Saturday, June 1

A driver was cited for improper plates and a suspended license during a traffic stop at North Huron Street and Forest Avenue. The stop occurred at 12:20 a.m. and the case closed June 1.

Personal property was stolen from a vehicle parked in Alexander Lot between 6:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The theft was reported at 9:12 p.m. and the case closed June 15.

Sunday, June 2

A driver was found intoxicated during a traffic stop at North Adams Street and West Forest Avenue. The stop occurred at 1:45 a.m. and the case remains open.

A driver was found with a suspended license during a traffic stop at Washtenaw Avenue and Cross Street. The stop occurred at 3:57 p.m. and the case closed June 3.

An individual was cited for disregarding an officer’s traffic direction at Hewitt Road and Washtenaw Avenue. The crime occurred at 6:33 p.m. and the case remains open.

An individual was found driving without a license (having never acquired one) and with fraudulent license plates at Ballard and West Cross Streets. The stop occurred at 9:47 p.m. and the case remains open.

Monday, June 3

Police responded to a street robbery where a gun was involved at Emmet and Ballard Streets. The crime occurred at 1:34 a.m. and the case closed June 11.

An individual three a glass at a bartender and resisted arrest at 201 West Michigan Avenue. The assault happened at 2:05 a.m. and the case closed June 6.

An individual was arrested for stolen license plates and for other outstanding warrants at Washtenaw and Fairview Streets. The arrest occurred at 4:21 a.m. and the case remains open.

An individual admitted to entering a private room in a Village Building D apartment and was cited for property damage forced entry. The crime occurred at 3:15 p.m. and the case remains open.

Tuesday, June 4

A driver was found driving with a suspended license during a traffic stop at Huron River Drive and Leforge Roads. The stop occurred at 8:51 p.m. and the case closed June 4.

Wednesday, June 5

No crimes reported

No crimes reported

Friday, June 7

A driver disobeyed multiple police officers’ traffic directions in Rynearson Lot on June 6 at 8:45 p.m. The crime was reported at 12:49 a.m. on June 7 and the case remains open.

A driver was found driving with a suspended license during a traffic stop at North Hewitt Road and Washtenaw Avenue. Their passenger was arrested on outstanding warrants. The stop occurred at 1:36 p.m. and the case closed June 8.

A driver was cited for improper registration and driving while their license is suspended during a traffic stop at Leforge Road and Woburn Drive. The stop occurred at 4:02 p.m. and the case closed June 8.

An open alcohol bottle was found in a vehicle during a traffic stop at Perrin and Emmet Streets. The stop occurred at 10:34 and the case closed June 8.

Saturday, June 8

EMU police responded to a robbery at 517 West Cross Street, where a suspect also resisted officers at the scene. The robbery occurred at 3:49 a.m. and the case is pending action.
