An email from University Communications informed the campus at 9:28 a.m. April 1 of a small fire on the second floor of Lakeview Apartments.
Residents were evacuated due to smoke and no student injuries were reported, the email said.
TESOL major Jadalyn Johnson lives on the second floor of Lakeview.
"Someone burned their food and smoked my whole floor," Johnson said. "We were evacuated for about an hour."
University Communications also thanked the quick response of emergency personnel.
