The Echo's guide to celebrating Pride Month in Michigan

Pride Month celebrates the movement for LGBTQ+ rights and honors the Stonewall Riots of 1969. At Pride parades and celebrations across the world, attendees will find rainbows, food and entertainment, and a safe space for queer people. Ypsi Pride

When: June 6, 2025, 5-10 p.m.

Where: Depot Town

This year’s theme for Ypsi Pride is “Our Stories.” The free outdoor festival will feature drag performances, music, vendors and informational booths. In conjunction with Ypsi First Fridays, Ypsi Pride is a can’t-miss event. For more information, visit Ypsi Pride’s Facebook page.

Motor City Pride

When: June 7, 2025, 12-9 p.m., June 8, 2025, 12:30-7 p.m.

Where: Hart Plaza, Detroit

Motor City Pride’s parade is scheduled for noon June 8, 2025. Viewing of the parade is free. The festival requires a $5 ticket for individuals ages 12 and up. Children under 12 do not require a ticket. Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the festival entrance. The festival boasts multiple stages, vendors and food trucks. Pride Drag Bingo and Show

When: June 14, 2025, 2-5 p.m.

Where: Ziggy’s Ypsilanti

Head to Ziggy’s in downtown Ypsi for a free Drag Bingo performance. This event is 18-plus. Bingo is free to play with the opportunity to win prizes. Jadein Black will be the host and main performer. For more information, check out the event page.

Pride OUTside

When: June 26, 2025, 6-8:30 p.m.

Where: Heritage Park Amphitheater, Canton

This free event will kick off Heritage Park’s concert series. Pride OUTside will feature performers, guest speakers, activities, food and vendors. All ages are welcome. For more information, check out their Facebook page.

Ann Arbor also hosts an annual Pride celebration in August.

There are endless ways to celebrate Pride across the state, and not just in June. Put on your rainbows and celebrate loudly and proudly.


Ameera Salman

Ameera Salman uses she/they pronouns, and has worked for The Eastern Echo since Fall 2022. They started as Editor-in-Chief of Cellar Roots, then moved to Editor-in-Chief of The Eastern Echo in 2024. For the Fall 2025 semester they are serving as News Editor. Salman is a senior majoring in journalism with a minor in urban studies. 

Her job entails working hands-on with reporters to write the best stories they can. News is the heart of our mission, and it's her job to make sure it doesn't fall through the cracks. For her, the best part is the people. She feels it's really special to build a legacy by doing what she loves with people who love it too.
