The Women’s Resource Center will hold “Our Voices,” at 7 p.m. on Friday at Alexander Music Building. The “Our Voices” show will feature 13 women performing personal monologues or monologues written by other students.

When picking out your degree, chances are you skimmed the details enough to see which classes worked for your major or gen eds, but you didn’t really get into the details of the graduation process.


A taste of Palestine

The smell of authentic Palestinian food and the sound of Palestinian pop music wafted out into the hallway, greeting the long line of students waiting for the doors to the Palestinian Fest to open. Students for Justice in Palestine held the Palestinian Fest in the Student Center on Wednesday. “I came to support my country [Palestine] and the theme of diversity,” said freshman Shereen Hussein. There were two videos that were shown to show attendees of the Palestine festival depicting what it’s like to be in their culture.

Monday night quidditch

Nerd was the word on Monday night as brooms, hoops, and the EMU Flying Squirrels Quidditch Club took over Dick Vitale Court at Calihan Hall during the halftime of U of D Mercy’s mens basketball game against the visiting Wright State Raiders. The Harry Potter based sport was showcased during U of D Mercy’s Nerd Night, a promotion that saw many Titan staffers wear nerdy glasses and concession stands giving away free boxes of Willy Wonka Nerd’s candy.

Students Learn Mindfulness

Eastern Michigan University students practiced mindfulness and relaxation in the “Mindful Being” meditation program at Snow Health Center Friday.


Soul Kinetic dance concert

Dance majors and minors performed in the EMU Department of Music and Dance’s 63rd Annual Faculty and Guest Artist Dance Concert on Sunday at Quirk Sponberg Theater.

Students chanted “No Justice, no peace!” in reference to the recent shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and sang the civil rights anthem “We Shall Overcome.” The procession made several stops at various buildings and memorials including the Marshall Building and the Cesar Chavez fountain. And members of Alpha Kappa Alpha sang a spiritual melody while embracing the MLK memorial statue.

EMU Wrestling Splits at Dual Meet in Pittsburgh

The Eastern Michigan Eagles wrestling team experienced both the sweet taste of victory and the bitter taste of defeat Sunday, Jan. 11 as they defeated the Duke Blue Devils and dropped their match against the N.C. State Wolfpack at the Pitt Duals.
