Sailing club returns to EMU

After almost three decades, a sailing club is returning to Eastern Michigan University. Originally started in 1967, the club had existed at the university until around 1981.

AMP festival pushes arts for a cause

AMPlifying the Arts will be holding events on campus Thursday and Friday. AMP will have approximately 35 arts activities going on at the Student Center, Sponberg Theatre, Alexander and Sherzer. All activities are free.

Air Force Falconaires bring jazz to Pease

The United States Air Force Academy’s Falconaires brought their jazz styling to Pease Auditorium last Friday in a concert hosted by Eastern Michigan University’s Department of Music and Dance. The EMU Jazz Ensemble, led by Professor Donald Babcock, opened for The Falconaires.

Keynote speakers focus on history

Eastern Michigan University commemorated Veterans Day with a keynote address held Wednesday afternoon at the Student Center Auditorium. The address featured retired Marine Major General William Henderson, EMU professor Steven Ramold and Alexander Jefferson, a Tuskegee Airman. Though all of the speakers come from significantly different backgrounds, each stressed the importance of remembering the experiences of veterans in addition to respecting the efforts of today’s vets.

Air Force jazz ensemble to invade Pease

Jazz lovers delight as the United States Air Force Academy’s Falconaires big band soars into Eastern Michigan University’s Pease Auditorium tomorrow night at 7. The 18-member Falconaires is one of the Air Force’s two premier jazz ensembles and performs a variety of big band standards mixed with some contemporary jazz music.

'All Childish Things' will open at Quirk

Staged readings of 34-year-old local playwright Joseph Zettelmaier’s plays entitled “All Childish Things, Episodes I, II and III,” will be presented on campus this weekend at the Quirk-Sponberg Theatre. In an interview Monday, Zettelmaier, who is also a drama composition teacher at Eastern Michigan University, talked about his three plays, which are heavily influenced by the Star Wars trilogy.
