Eastern Michigan University’s School of Music and Dance welcomed guest cellist, Benjamin Whitcomb, and his accompanied pianist, Vincent DeVries, Tuesday night in Alexander Recital Hall. Dr. Benjamin Whitcomb teaches Cello and Music Theory at the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater.

TobyMac performs at Convocation Center

Tobymac came to Eastern and got the party bumping harder than any house party seen thus far off campus, and he didn’t use sex, drugs, or vulgar language to do it -- all he needed was the power of Christ. A crowd of over 3,000 gathered at the EMU Convocation Center to see the five time Grammy winning Christian Hip Hop artist.

Local band to perform at The Ark in Ann Arbor

Known for their eclectic genre of music ranging from classical and jazz, folk, Broadway show tunes, Eastern European and many more, Ann Arbor trio San, Emily and Jacob, will be returning to The Ark for another musical night on Wednesday, Oct.





Chamber Music of Steven Stucky

Eastern Michigan University’s music and dance department kicked off its three day biennial Music Now Fest with “Chamber Music of Steven Stucky,” Wednesday night in Pease Auditorium. Steven Stucky, 65, is the featured composer this year. “He’s arguable one of the greatest living American composers.


Two jerks set up shop in Depot Town

Depot Town has a new business that is sure to raise eyebrows off of the name, Two Jerks Music. The owners are two brothers, Mark and Ryan Teachout, who are originally from Flint, but have fallen in love with the Ypsilanti community. Depot Town’s isn’t known for its booming businesses, but its beautiful infrastructure.

James Davis makes a powerful comeback

 Raised on American blues, James “Boo Boo” Davis is one of the remaining few musicians who learned to sing and play the blues first-hand while picking cotton in the Mississippi Delta.At 71 years of age, we still haven’t seen the last of Boo Boo Davis. Black and Tan Records dug up this lesser known bluesman and asked him to record a couple of his songs with only a harmonica and his voice.
