Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder expressed his desire Nov. 28 to get the environment and natural resources in good shape for future generations so Michigan will be “a place our kids will want to live, work and play.”

EMU not handing over docs

The National Council on Teacher Quality, an advocacy and policy group, listed Eastern Michigan University as one of the schools that has not handed over documents for a study regarding teacher preparation.

This semester alone, Lt. Dan Karrick and Chief Bob Heighes of the Eastern Michigan University Police Department have dealt with six instances of fraudulent money being used around campus.


School bus theft suspect has mental illness history

Evidence showed Josiah Curtis, who was arrested Thanksgiving morning for allegedly stealing a school bus to drive to Detroit and start a rapping career there, was mentally ill and had not been taking his medication prior to the theft.

In a major environmental address Wednesday, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder proposed a 599 mile hiking and biking trail from Belle Isle in Detroit to the Wisconsin border in the Upper Peninsula.

Students discuss allowing marijuana on campuses

The polls have closed and doing so brought a change in the states of Washington and Colorado. These two states have passed laws allowing people who are 21 and older to legally possess a maximum of one ounce of marijuana.

School districts to merge

The City of Ypsilanti can expect big changes in the upcoming year as the school districts of Ypsilanti and Willow Run merge. Many costs are anticipated with the merge.






Ypsilanti man sought for attempted murder of girlfriend

The Eastern Michigan University Department of Public Safety sent out a campus notification Nov. 28 asking EMU students to be on the lookout for Michael Joshua Glenn in connection to an attempted murder, which took place Tuesday evening in the 2300 block of McKinley Road near Hewitt and Packard roads in Ypsilanti Township.

Nov. 15 A purse was stolen at 9:38 a.m. at the Halle Computer Lab. Cans were reported stolen from a donation bin at 10:31 a.m. at Mark Jefferson. The theft occurred between 10:30 p.m. Nov. 14 and 8:30 a.m. Nov. 15.

Man found dead on Ypsi railroad tracks

Ypsilanti railroad workers walking their routine patrol found a dead body at 9:25 a.m. Thanksgiving morning. The man was hit and killed by a passing train near Forest Avenue.
