Men’s basketball ready for regular season

Coming off a decisive 82-38 exhibition victory over the University of Michigan-Dearborn Wolves on Nov. 2, the Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team turns their attention to their regular season opener against the Rochester College Warriors.

EMU ranks 103 of 141 for sexual health ed

Recently, the seventh annual Trojan Report Card of Sexual Health was released, showing that Eastern Michigan University ranks No. 103 out of 141 institutions of higher education that were reviewed. EMU is up 21 spots from last year’s report card, showing an improvement in the area of sexual health knowledge and resource availability.

Ypsi ballot to have 2 more proposals

Ypsilanti residents will have two additional proposals on their November ballot, both dealing with consolidating the Willow Run Community Schools and Ypsilanti Public Schools.

EMU to drive students to polls all day Nov. 6

·

Eastern Michigan University will be driving students to the polls all day on Election Day Nov. 6. Vans can be found outside the Eastern Eateries Food Court, located between Phelps-Sellers and Walton-Putnam residence halls, and will have signs reading “EMU Rides to the Polls.” Students will need to bring a state-issued ID and their voter registration cards to the polls. Students will vote at Ypsilanti Middle School at 105 N.

In order to vote at the polls, you must show picture ID or sign an affidavit attesting you are not in possession of identification.

MI House candidate Bill Emmerich and incumbent David Rutledge

Republican Michigan House of Representatives candidate for District 54 Bill Emmerich said, “I am for strong individualism, and resist special treatment for any groups.” David Rutledge is currently running for reelection, having been elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2010. He served on the Education, Regulatory Reform and Local, Regional and Intergovernmental Affairs committees.

Paul Ryan is the Republican vice presidential nominee for presidential candidate Mitt Romney. He is originally from Janesville, Wis. He is married and has three children, a son and two daughters. He has a degree in economics and politics from Miami University of Ohio.

From Scranton, Pa., Vice President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was the sixth youngest person elected to the United States Senate at age 29. Two weeks after the election, his wife Neila and daughter Naomi were killed in a car accident.

Last week, the final debate of the presidential election ended. This time, I decided to watch the debate in Eastern Michigan University’s Student Center after the Mock Presidential Debate ended.

Track absentee ballots online

Michigan’s absentee voters can now track the status of their ballots online, using a feature provided by Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson. “If they want to know when their ballot was mailed or if it’s been received, they can find out online from anywhere they have Internet access,” Johnson said in a press release. Absentee voters can visit the Michigan Voter Information Center at www.Michigan.gov/sos to find up-to-date information about their ballot. Once a local clerk receives an absentee ballot application, the voter’s ballot information is continually updated by the clerk’s office.
