Championship hopes slashed by Kent State

The season ended for the Eastern Michigan University baseball team the same way it has for the last three seasons, with a defeat in the semifinal round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament. The Eagles’ 8-0 loss against Kent State Saturday afternoon ceased any hopes of their second MAC championship in five years.

EMU baseball misses chance at MAC West title

Hopes for the Mid-American Conference West Division title slipped away from the Eastern Michigan University baseball team after its 5-2 loss against Central Michigan in the season finale Saturday at Oestrike Stadium.

Eastern Eagles baseball creeps closer to top of MAC

Eastern Michigan University’s baseball team began with an 18-2 victory over the University of Toledo Rockets on Friday, May 13. The win was the first for the Eagles at home and put EMU (32-17 overall, 14-8 MAC) in a first-place tie in the MidAmerican Conference with Central Michigan University.

EMU men's basketball scores new assistant coach

On Thursday, May 5 Eastern Michigan University’s head men’s basketball coach Rob Murphyt announced Mike Brown will be joining the ranks as assistant coach. Before coming to EMU, Brown was an assistant coach at the University of South Alabama for two seasons.

Eastern softball defeats Central

After coming back from a three-run deficit the Eastern Michigan University softball team defeated Central Michigan University 5-4 Saturday, April 30. With the win, the Eagles are now 23-12 (9-6 MAC), while CMU falls to a 9-8 mark in conference play (25-18 overall). EMU posted nine hits on the night and had three players with multiple-hit performances.

After four runs in the eighth inning alone, the Eastern Michigan University baseball team continued its eight-game win streak as it took a 5-4 victory over the Ball State Cardinals on Saturday.

Commentary: New season poses challenges to Tigers despite optimism

It’s hard not to succumb to hyperbole early in the baseball season, but with just a few games in the books and Tigers outfielder Brennan Boesch hitting .364 at the time of this writing, I reserve the right to hold off on small, sample-size conclusions until the end of April at the earliest.

Women's championship outshines men's

Viewers witnessed a boring national collegiate basketball championship games Monday as UConn beat Butler, 53-41. For some, March Madness slowed down — but it was far from over. The women played a tense defensive game as Texas A&M took a 76-70 victory over Notre Dame on Tuesday.
