Women's basketball

Preview of the 2017-18 women's basketball team

The Eastern Michigan University’s women’s basketball season began Wednesday, Nov. 1 with a 70-57 exhibition win against Hillsdale College. For the 2017-18 squad, there's a lot more to prove after a rough season last year had the Lady Eagles finishing with a 6-25 record in head coach Fred Castro's inaugural season.

Eagles claim match in three straight sets against Western Michigan Volleyball

Eastern Michigan’s women’s volleyball team took to the court Nov. 3 at the Convocation Center for a matchup against in-state rival Western Michigan. Despite coming into the match with a worse record compared to the Broncos, Eastern took the match in a 3-0 sweep. The victory marks the 12th victory on the season for the Eagles and the fourth victory in-conference.

Women's soccer dominates Broncos

Eastern Michigan University’s women’s soccer dominated the Western Michigan Broncos Thursday, Oct. 19 at Scicluna Field. Eastern has seen great success at home this season and Thursday’s match was no different. Goalkeeper Kaylin Williams kept the Broncos off the scoreboard to help the team on their way to a 3-0 victory. Despite the difference in score, EMU still had to fight valiantly to secure their first victory against Western since the 2014 season.

EMU drops Homecoming to Broncos

The 90th Homecoming game contained all that and more. However, it would be the in-state rivals that got the last laugh, as the Eastern Michigan University Eagles (2-5, 0-3) dropped yet another overtime heartbreaker to the Western Michigan Broncos (5-3, 3-1) 20-17 Saturday Oct. 21 at Rynearson Stadium.

Soccer sees postseason victory

The Eastern Michigan University soccer team saw a postseason victory with a 1-0 win on Senior Day over the Northern Illinois University Huskies Sunday Oct. 22 at Scicluna Field.

Volleyball loses pair of road matches

Eastern Michigan University’s volleyball team left the nest for a set of road matches against Bowling Green and Miami of Ohio. The Eagles lost both games to their fellow MAC opponents by a combined score of 7-1. With the lose, EMU finds itself on a five-game losing streak, dropping the team to 10-14 overall with a 2-6 record in conference.

Road woes continue to trouble women's soccer

Eastern Michigan’s women’s soccer lost a pair of road matches this week against Toledo and Ball State with final scores 4-1 and 3-0 respectively. The two losses drop Eastern to 5-10-1 overall and 2-5 in the conference. Eastern has yet to pull off a victory away from home since an early season matchup against the University of Illinois at Chicago. Since, Eastern has lost seven straight games on the road.

Three Eagles place in top 20 at Shirley Spork Invitational

After a fervent final round of play, the Eastern Michigan University women’s golf team finished with a score of 933, including three Eagles placing inside the top 20 at the inaugural Shirley Spork Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday at the Eagle Crest Golf Club.

Sean McCarthy named new assistant athletic director

Eastern Michigan University’s Athletic Department welcomed a new face to the staff this past Wednesday, Oct. 4, as it was announced by Associate Athletics Director of Compliance Matthew Jakobsze that Sean McCarthy was named Assistant Director of Compliance.
