With just a few days until the women’s soccer season kicks off in earnest and the football and women’s volleyball campaigns not far behind, here are a couple of the top storylines to look forward to as the fall sport season begins.

Eagles complete record-tying third reverse sweep of season, topples Northern Illinois 3-2

Just like they had twice previously this season, the Eagles slowly but surely clawed their way back into the match, dominating the late stages of the third set to secure their first set win of the night and riding that momentum into coming out on top in the final two sets as well to secure victory.

Eastern Michigan's Hannah Blaney named MAC Defensive Player of the Week

Eastern Michigan volleyball player Hannah Blaney has been named MAC Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Eagles to two wins over Kent State with 50 total digs. This honor marks the first of Blaney's career and the second consecutive week an EMU player has received the award.

Eastern Michigan's Hatteras Welker earns MAC defensive player of the week honor

Eastern Michigan volleyball player Hatteras Welker was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week, marking the first conference honor of her career. Leading the conference in total blocks, Welker's standout performances helped the Eagles secure a 2-1 record as they prepare for upcoming matches against Kent State.

This match will offer Mahler and her teammates an early opportunity to showcase their skills as they prepare for the upcoming season.
