Final arguments begin in trial of Ed Thomas

The final arguments for the trial of Ed Thomas in the murder of EMU wide receiver Demarius Reed started at 8:30, Monday. Thomas is accused of felony murder or assisting in murder, as well as armed robbery. Nimish Gantra, assistant prosecuting attorney for Washtenaw County began the closing arguments.


Ypsilanti Officials Work for a Safer Community

Washtenaw County officials will formally cooperate to provide a safer Ypsilanti community with the announcement of the Eastern Washtenaw Safety Alliance (EWSA), the parties announced Tuesday. According to Eastern Michigan University’s website, EWSA is a coalition of top area officials and law enforcement leaders spearheaded by State Rep.

City council discusses budget, Water Street

Thursday’s meeting of the Ypsilanti City Council included its yearly budget report by City Manager Ralph Lange, Director of the Downtown Development Authority Tim Colbeck and Fire Chief Max Anthouard. Mayor Pro Tem Lois Richardson presided in Mayor Paul Schreiber’s absence.
