The Eastern Michigan women’s volleyball team suffered a loss to Ball State on Friday, Nov. 15. It was a crucial loss as the Eagles were looking for a spot in the 2019 MAC Tournament. Eastern Michigan was on the road in Muncie, Indiana, the home of the Cardinals, and EMU left Worthen Arena with a 3-1 loss.
The Eastern Michigan women’s volleyball team went 1-1 in their last two matches versus Western Michigan on Saturday, Nov. 2 and against Central Michigan on Thursday, Nov. 7. The Eagles lost to the Broncos at home on senior night before defeating the Chippewas, who are the top ranked team in the MAC.
The Eastern Michigan women’s volleyball team lost to Akron on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Convocation Center. The Eagles lost the match 3-1. Eastern Michigan won the third set 25-23 but fell in the other three sets.
The Eastern Michigan women’s volleyball team has had an up-and-down season thus far through 18 matches. The Eagles won two straight games against Ohio and Toledo before falling to Ball State at the Convocation Center on Saturday, Oct. 12. The Cardinals won the match 3-2.
The Eastern Michigan women’s volleyball team squared off against Purdue-Fort Wayne on Tuesday, Sept. 17. The Eagles came into the game with a 3-5 record, hoping to improve that in the last game of the Michigan Challenge. Purdue-Fort Wayne came into the game with a 3-8 record and had Eastern Michigan as the last game of their Dunn Hospitality Tournament. Purdue-Fort Wayne was 1-2 in their last three games coming into the match.
Eastern Michigan played Navy Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Convocation Center. Eastern came into this game with a 3-3 record, fresh off of a 3-0 rout of McNeese State to end the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic. Eastern Michigan started the Michigan Challenge with its game against Navy, a three-game event featuring Navy, the University of Michigan and Purdue-Fort Wayne. Navy came into the game 3-4, while losing three of its last four before defeating the Eagles in five sets.
The EMU women’s volleyball team opened up its season against Utah State on Aug. 30. The Eagles got off to a flying start with a 3-2 victory but proceeded to go 2-3 in their next five games, with losses to Southern Utah, Xavier and Louisiana. The wins were against Florida A&M and most recently, McNeese State. Eastern swept McNeese state with scores of 25-11, 25-20 and 26-24.
The EMU volleyball team is entering the 2019 season as defending MAC Champions and seek to repeat with a promoted Darcy Dorton as head coach. The upcoming schedule is now complete for the team, which lost three senior players but now returns four seniors and two juniors. This will be the 43rd season program history.
The Eastern Michigan athletics program has seen some ups and downs in the last year, which includes a MAC Tournament title by the women’s volleyball team, an appearance in the Camellia Bowl for the football team, and a court ruling that forced EMU to reinstate the softball and women’s tennis teams.
Darcy Dorton was named the new coach for Eastern Michigan University’s volleyball team on Feb. 18 after an extensive search for a new coach.
After four straight wins, Eastern Michigan’s women’s volleyball team found themselves sneaking into the MAC tournament. The team managed to win their first round matchup against Buffalo, 3-1, before falling to Ohio in the following round with a score of 1-3. Coming into the tournament as the lowest seed, being able to upset Buffalo in the first round is more than enough to deem their tournament berth successful.
The Eastern Michigan University’s women’s volleyball team qualified for the MAC tournament following a streak of four wins straight that started on senior weekend against Western Michigan and Northern Illinois.
Eastern Michigan’s women’s volleyball team took to the court Nov. 3 at the Convocation Center for a matchup against in-state rival Western Michigan. Despite coming into the match with a worse record compared to the Broncos, Eastern took the match in a 3-0 sweep. The victory marks the 12th victory on the season for the Eagles and the fourth victory in-conference.
Eastern Michigan University’s volleyball team left the nest for a set of road matches against Bowling Green and Miami of Ohio. The Eagles lost both games to their fellow MAC opponents by a combined score of 7-1. With the lose, EMU finds itself on a five-game losing streak, dropping the team to 10-14 overall with a 2-6 record in conference.
The Eastern Michigan football team came beck from a 21 point deficit to become bowl eligible for the first time in 20 years on Election Night at Ball State.
Troubles continued for the Eastern Michigan volleyball team in its matchups against Northern Illinois and Western Michigan this past week. The Eagles only manage to muster one set victory combined in both matches, giving them three set victories in their last five matches.
The Eastern Michigan football team won its third road game in a row against the Ohio Bobcats in a 27-20 game on Oct.
