“Season of Light” at the EMU Planetarium - Dec.14

This is an exploration of the astronomical meanings behind seasonal traditions. This event runs from 7- 8 p.m. in Mark Jefferson with a $5 ticket price.

Queer Variety Show - Dec. 16

Bridge Community Cafe, located at 217 W Michigan Ave., is hosting a queer variety show from 7 - 11 p.m. The event will feature a plethora of different LGBTQ+ creators.

Multicultural Graduation Celebration - Dec.16

Join CORE in acknowledging the achievements of graduate students of color with performances, speeches and more. This even begins at 5 p.m. in the Student Center ballroom.

Queer Comics Peddler - Dec. 17

Bridge Community Cafe is hosting a queer comics peddler to promote the work of LGBTQ+ artists and writers from 10 a.m - 5 p.m.

Winter Commencements - Dec.17

Join the graduates for an in person Commencement Ceremony at 9:30 a.m in the George Gervin GameAbove Center.

Golden Years NYE Party - Dec. 31

Go into 2023 with tunes you never knew you loved. Come in a gold getup with a $5 cover at the door. This event begins a 7:30 at Ziggys.

NYE Spectacular - Dec. 31

Join for a fundraiser to help local businesses, local teachers, and pharmacy workers. This event features drag bingo and different drag performers. This event runs from 8 p.m to 1:30 a.m at The Tap Room with a $25 ticket price.

Bicentennial Kick off and New Years eve celebration - Dec. 31

Join Ypsilanti in celebrating 200 years and ringing in the new year. Live shows will happen across downtown with a kids ball drop at 7 p.m. and the official ball drop happening at midnight. This event runs from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in Downtown Ypsi.

Marie White is the Editor-in-Chief at The Eastern Echo. She is a senior at Eastern Michigan University majoring in English with a concentration in Literature and Journalism minoring in Plant Biology. Marie has worked for The Eastern Echo since September of 2021, beginning as a news writer and opinions columnist, later becoming Assistant News Editor in summer of 2022 and Content Editor in the fall of 2022. She loves writing about breaking news and enjoys plants, bugs, and learning photography.
