Eastern Michigan University’s Black Alumni Association and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Xi Chapter will be cohosting the annual Homecoming event Young and Successful Oct.

Black Homecoming kicks off Oct. 3

This year, Eastern Michigan University will be having its first Black Homecoming celebration. The week of events was created to encourage voter registration and raise educational awareness for African-American students, as well as other EMU students.

Exhibition shows controversial art

The Eastern Michigan University art department is hosting the international art show “Posters of Discontent” in the University Gallery on the second floor of the Student Center.

Campus Jam entertains students

Eastern Michigan University students and Ypsilanti citizens came out on Saturday, Sept. 15 at University Park and the Student Center patio to enjoy the festive activities of Campus Jam, hosted by Campus Life. The night was filled with fun, excitement, live music and free food.

Mock rock contest a hit

You could feel the heat coming from Eastern Michigan University’s Student Center auditorium stage on Thursday night during Alpha Kappa Alpha’s (Xi Chapter) Pretty Girl Mock Rock lip synching contest.

Oddcore, Alibi Crew team up

Ypsilanti-based music producers Oddcore Productions and Alibi Crew will be hosting the “Out of the Box” remix compilation release party Saturday, Sept. 15 at Crossroad’s Bar & Grill, 517 W. Cross St. in Ypsilanti, just south of Eastern Michigan University’s campus.

Welcome Week is under way

L.I.V.E. Welcome Week is upon us once again, Eastern Michigan Eagles. Launched in fall 2011 by Reginald Barnes, director of Diversity and Community Involvement, and student leaders, Learning Integrity Valuing Equality, or L.I.V.E., is a program designed to connect with culturally underrepresented and first-generation students on campus.
