Comedienne to give inspiring lecture

On Wednesday, Oct. 17, Eastern Michigan University will be welcoming comedienne Sara Benincasa, who will give students an inspirational lecture followed by a question and answer session.

EMU wind symphony to host concert Sunday

Can they sing with all the voices of the mountain, or paint with all the colors of the wind? Well, no, Eastern Michigan University’s Music and Dance Department does not have the ability to mimic Disney’s “Pocahontas.” But EMU’s Wind Symphony can create music using only wind instruments and a piano, and they will be doing so Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. in Pease Auditorium.

EMU Homecoming king crowned

Eastern Michigan University junior Blake Navarre was crowned the 2012 Homecoming king during halftime of the Homecoming game against Kent State Oct. 6 at Rynearson Stadium. Navarre is from Ypsilanti and majoring at EMU in healthcare administration. Navarre spoke with The Eastern Echo about his achievements and overall excitement of being crowned EMU Homecoming king.

EMU Homecoming queen crowned

Eastern Michigan University senior Ja’La Wourman was crowned Homecoming queen during halftime at the Homecoming game against Kent State at Rynearson Stadium Oct. 6. Wourman spoke with The Eastern Echo about her achievements and excitement at being crowned queen.

Eagle spirit soars

Some Eastern Michigan University Eagles wore their green and white proudly during the days leading up to Saturday’s Homecoming football game against Kent State at Rynearson Stadium. Events scheduled throughout the week encouraged students to show their school spirit and cheer the team to victory.

Homecoming week is here once again and 163 years of Eastern Michigan University tradition marches on into the year 2012. EMU has a lot of pride to show off and this week the campus will be in a state of celebration. There will be much excitement leading up to the Homecoming football game Oct. 6 against Kent State at Rynearson Stadium.
