“Under Defeat HD: Deluxe Edition” is an enjoyable niche game that probably flew under most people’s radar this past holiday season.

Katie's Craft Corner #12: Knitwear

·

Looking around, especially at this time of year, knitwear is everywhere. Hats, scarves, sweaters, mittens and other cozy winter gear are knitted from thick, soft yarns, mostly on machines. Even though you can easily buy a pair of gloves almost anywhere, there are lots of reasons to learn how to knit. Here, I’ll give you the top ten reasons you should think about taking up knitting.

Matt on Music: Dropkick Murphys' "Signed and Sealed in Blood"

·

The first and most memorable hook on the new Dropkick Murphys album, “Signed and Sealed in Blood,” goes, “The boys are back, and they’re looking for trouble.” That says it all, really. The album’s only hook that you might be able to remember when the music’s shut off is a cliché line that may or may not be ripping off Thin Lizzy.

Man’s work lives through friend

‘TRANS’ documentary receives positive reactions from viewers

·

“When someone says to me, ‘What is this film about?’ I say, ‘It’s about human rights, injustice and discrimination,’” Mark Schoen, producer of “TRANS,” said. “And what I’ve learned is the gender spectrum is much wider than I ever thought it was and you know it’s not just transgender. There’s intersex, there’s genderqueer. I think the important thing is that we have to, as a society, let people be their authentic selves, whatever that may be.”

Winterfest offers week of wintry activities

Grindhouse Review: 'The Seventh Seal'

·

“The Seventh Seal” (1957) Directed By Ingmar Bergman Starring Gunnar Björnstrand, Bengt Ekerot, Nils Poppe, Max von Sydow, Bibi Andersson, Inga Gill and Maud Hansson “…And when the lamb opened the seventh seal…there was silence in the heavens about the space of a half an hour. And the seven angels which had the trumpets…prepared themselves to sound.” Writer/director Ingmar Bergman captures the allegory of man’s apocalyptic search for the meaning of life in his breathtaking low budget masterpiece, “The Seventh Seal.” Written, directed and acted to perfection, Bergman molds and sculpts one of the deepest horror/dramas of all time that keeps us guessing and asking the one question that burns within the hearts of man, “Why are we here?” After a decade of battling in the Crusades, a knight on his way home comes face to face with the Grim Reaper.

Nerdy Delectables: Chocolate Brownie Bacon Pie

·

There are some combinations that are scarily awesome together: the Internet and cats, peanut butter and chocolate, Bruce Campbell and chain saws…the list goes on. But one of my favorite flavor combos is that recently-beloved duo of bacon and chocolate. What could make that sensation of sweet and salty richness better? In a word: pie.
