 Alexander Simpson, one of the newly appointed members of Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents, was welcomed to EMU through a town hall meet and greet.

Following more sanctions protesters label EMU's president a racist

Following Eastern Michigan University’s office of student conduct issuing 16 additional student sanctions, over 100 students led a protest through the Student Center carrying a large sign that read, “EMU’s President is a racist." The sanctions follow several prior student sanctions that stem from conduct violations reported the night of the student led sit-in that took place in the Student Center in early Nov.

EMU student receives 2017 Outstanding Teachers Assistant Award Wendy Dorman, Eastern Michigan University graduate student and assistant teacher, was awarded the 2017 Outstanding Teachers Assistant Award from the National Association of Geoscience Teachers (NAGT). According to a press release, Dorman was nominated for going above and beyond standard teaching assistant responsibilities to improve the quality of education for students.

Sunday On Jan. 8 at 5:17 p.m., DPS received a call regarding a heated verbal altercation between roommates inside of Phelps residence hall.

Sunday, Dec. 4 At 2:05 a.m. a traffic stop was conducted at the location of Cross Street and Ballard Street. The driver was cited for Minor in possession (MIP). This case was closed on Dec. 4.

Student sanctions following sit-in continue

Following the four racial slurs found on Eastern Michigan University’s campus and the original four students being sanctioned for their involvement in the Student Center protest in early November, more sanctions have followed and will continue. “We can’t identify all students involved because none of them gave us their identification.

EMU student wins third annual College Food Stars cooking competition Sarah Lewis Kourtni Talley, student at Eastern Michigan University student, won the grand prize of $1000 at Holiday Inn near the University of Michigan’s third annual College Food Stars cooking competition on Sunday, Nov. 13 for her Avocado Delight dish.
