The Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team will look to build on its most successful season in history, despite losing four senior All-Mid-American-Conference players from last year.

The Eagles have some running room here, but little else went right in 2009’s 56-8 defeat by the Chippewas. This year, CMU is in transition with an average running game, but Eastern has not been able to stop anyone on the ground.

The Eastern Michigan University cross country team placed first Saturday at Detroit in the Running Fit Titan Invitational to open the season. Sophomore James Hughes led Eastern with a first-place effort in a time of 20:25.

Volleyball kicks off season with big wins

The Eastern Michigan Volleyball team is looking to rebound from its sub-par season last year. While the team struggled last season, capturing only five wins, the return of 11 letter winners and their experience playing at the collegiate level is a springboard for the start of the 2010 season. The Eagles begin the season under the leadership of head coach Kim Berrington.
