The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team made the long flight to Miami, Florida for a showdown with Florida International University on Wednesday, Nov. 30, inside the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. The Eagles snapped a six-game losing streak behind an electric second-half effort where EMU outscored FIU 53-33 fueled by sophomores Emoni Bates’s and Noah Farrakhan’s combined 40 points to come from behind and secure the 80-68 victory over the Panthers.

In response to a string of shooting deaths during the summer of 2021, former Ypsilanti Mayor Lois Richardson united Ypsilanti’s community members to mobilize against a pervasive history of gun violence. Together, the group formed the Community Violence Intervention Team, whose sole purpose is proactively addressing intentional violence among youth.

The Eastern Michigan football team (8-4, 5-3 MAC) hosted Mid-American Conference rival Central Michigan (4-8, 3-5 MAC) at Rynearson Stadium on Friday, Nov. 25, where they defeated the Chippewas, 38-19, to claim a share of the MAC West Division and reclaim the Michigan MAC Trophy. To obtain a share of the division crown, the Eagles got help from Western Michigan University who defeated the University of Toledo, 20-14, on Nov. 25.

The Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team (4-0, 0-0 MAC) hosted the Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) Jaguars (3-3, 0-0 Horizon) inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center on Wednesday, Nov. 23. The Eagles’ defense was a problem for the Jaguars as the Eagles forced 17 turnovers and outrebounded the Jaguars 45-31 to soar to a 71-49 win.
