On Friday, July 12, “Longlegs” was released; the entire theater was packed and all tickets had been sold out. Maika Monroe as Lee Harker, Blair Underwood as Agent Carter, and Nicholas Cage as Longlegs star in the psychological horror film. This film plays on mood and has an incredibly unsettling vibe throughout. Combining flashes with loud heart-pounding noise to eerie stillness and quietness, Longlegs becomes an attack on the central nervous system of the viewer.

Team USA has excelled at the World University Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands, becoming World University Champions and gold medalists. Head Coach Kemp Savage and upcoming Senior Lily Wilhelm received recognition for their success in leading the team to victory.

The reformed supervillain Gru and his army of yellow minions returned to theaters just a day before Independence Day with new, family friendly, sci-fi hijinks. In “Despicable Me 4,” Gru and his family, including a new baby, had to go into hiding to keep away from a cockroach themed supervillain (don’t worry, these cockroaches were cute).

The U20 Track and Field Championships are in the books, and the Eastern Michigan Eagles had plenty of success. Jake McEachern (Lloydminster, Alberta) and Ryan Johnson (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) took a combined four gold medals total in the Canadian and U.S. Olympic Trials.

Former Eastern Michigan University Men's Track & Field student-athlete Donald Scott is headed to the 2024 Paris Olympics after finishing third in the triple jump contest. Scott achieved this position with a jump of 16.87m (55-04.25) during the United States Olympic Track and Field Trials on Sunday, June 30, at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field.

Imagine Dragons has finally released their new album "LOOM." Their last album, "Mercury," was released back in 2022. This new album is filled with emotion and heartbreak, Dan Reynolds emphasized on his Instagram. "I found myself lost in a wave of emotions and didn't know how to express them," Reynolds said in his post. He expressed his emotions through music and made an incredible album with his band.

The 77th Tony Awards earlier this month gathered American Theatre’s best for a night of recognition. One of those recognized, James Bolosh, was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, making him EMU’s first Tony winner.
