Hundreds of college athletic programs have stopped short due to COVID-19. EMU has canceled all events and team practices for the spring season. That includes women’s tennis, that finished with a 10-7 record. Conference matches were set to start on Sunday, March 22, however EMU followed suit with NCAA guidelines in not having those matches be played.

The Western Michigan Broncos (13-17, 6-11) defended their home court in a win against the Eastern Michigan Eagles (16-14, 6-11) in Kalamazoo at University Arena on Tuesday night. EMU tied the Broncos at 35 with 17:07 left in the second half before being outscored 20-8 in the final nine minutes, ending with a 70-54 loss.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (1-3) baseball team lost 3-2 against Pittsburgh in the first of a three-game series in Sanford, Fla. The Eagles were down three runs until the sixth inning where they scored two runs. With the loss, the Eagles are now just 1-3 on the season after losing a three-game series versus Austin Peay last weekend.

The efficient second half scoring propelled EMU to a road win at McGuirk Arena against the Chippewas men's basketball who were 11-1 at home going into the game. The Eagles shot 55% and outscored CMU by 10 after halftime to win 73-70. Ty Groce scored 22 with 12 rebounds, while Boubacar Toure scored 20 with 13 rebounds.

Sunday, Jan. 26, will forever be a memorable day in sports history. Former NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi, and seven other victims died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas. The vibrations of the tragic event were felt across the globe, including students at Eastern Michigan University.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (11-11, 6-5) women’s basketball team won 83-79 against Western Michigan for its first win in Kalamazoo since the 2015-16 season. Jenna Annecchiarico scored a career-high 31 points, eight rebounds and shot 50 percent from 3-point range.

The EMU women's tennis team defeated Eastern Illinois University 5-2 and lost 7-0 to Illinois at the Atkins Tennis Center in Champaign, Ill. on Sunday, Jan. 26. The two matches were the second and third of 2020, with one loss to Michigan State on Jan. 23 and three invitationals this past fall.

The Eastern Michigan women’s basketball team hosted the Central Michigan Chippewas on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at the Convocation Center for the EMU Martin Luther King Jr. Day Closing Celebration. CMU closed out the 89-82 win with free throws and remained undefeated against the MAC.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles women's basketball team went into Muncie, Ind. looking for their first 3-0 start against the MAC since the 2006-2007 season. It didn't go as planned as EMU lost 59-54 to the Cardinals at Worthen Arena on Saturday. Areanna Combs had 18 points for the Eagles (7-7, 2-1 MAC) with a season-high in rebounds at 11.

The Eagles lost 63-52 to Wichita State at Charles Koch Arena on Saturday, Dec. 8. That is four straight losses for EMU, all against non-conference teams. Aaliyah Stanley had the team-high in points at 20 and went 6-for-9 on 3-pointers for EMU (2-6). Areanna Combs scored 11 with three steals and three rebounds.

EMU men's basketball (4-0) travels to Montego, Jamaica to play the University of Maryland Baltimore County (4-1) on Friday. The teams will play at the Montego Bay Convention Centre as part of the Jersey Mike's Jamaica Classic, broadcasted on the CBS Sports Network at 2 p.m.

The Eastern Michigan (1-2) women's basketball team lost 79-77 to non-conference foe Youngstown State at the Beeghley Center on Saturday, Nov. 16. Jenna Annecchiarico was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 19 points and three steals. Freshman Aaliyah Stanley had a season-high 16 points and was 4-for-7 on 3-pointers.

The Eastern Michigan women’s soccer team won 2-1 against Ball State in Muncie, Indiana Nov. 3. This is EMU’s first win in the MAC Tournament since 2013, when the Eagles defeated Ohio 3-0.

Ty Eddington, an EMU senior and defensive lineman, was hurt just a few days before the team's season opener against Coastal Carolina on Saturday, Aug. 31. He now says he is ready to be back and in the rotation on the EMU defensive line.

Eastern Michigan University's women's soccer team fell to Akron 3-2 after a close second half on Thursday. The Zips are now 4-4-1 on the season and the Eagles dropped to 4-11-2.

Line Latu is playing in his second season with the Eastern Michigan Eagles after coming from San Mateo Community College in California, where former lineman Jimmy Leatiota and former receiver Johnnie Niupalau also attended before transferring to EMU.

Terry Myrick, junior linebacker, has been a force for the Eagles defense in 2019. He has a total of 18 solo tackles and 31 total tackles, both third best on Eastern Michigan. Myrick also had a forced fumble in the Week 2 game against Kentucky.
