Second on-campus cook-off brings EMU veterans together

The Veteran Services Office at Eastern Michigan University held its second Veteran’s Cook-off on Friday at Big Bob’s Lakehouse. The cookout was sponsored by the Veteran Services Office for the purpose of bringing together older and newer veterans, as well as workers in the VS office, to become acquainted and make friends.



Beyond Ramen

Students learn how to cook delicious dishes

The group Catholics on Campus hosted its first Beyond Ramen event of the 2010 fall semester last Wednesday, Sept. 15. The event kicked off at 8 p.m. at Holy Trinity Student Parish, across from Sill Hall.

The Center for Multicultural Affairs and Latino Student Association kicked off EMU’s Latino Heritage month Wednesday with Flavors of Latin America, an event celebrating Latino heritage and culture.

New Weezer album expected to play safe

Weezer has been playing it safe lately. Putting their single as the opening song, appropriately titled “Memories,” Rivers Cuomo (vocals/guitar) demonstrates his talent in writing the perfect pop song.



T-shirt tye-dye stations and a 9/11 memorial were among the events at the first Campus Bash.

Campus Bash draws more than 500 EMU dorm residents

This Saturday on 9/11, 568 Eastern Michigan University students and staff attended the first Campus Bash held at the Student Center from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Campus Bash is an on campus event first conceived in April 2010 by the Residence Hall Association to get more residents, particularly those living in the residence halls, to stay on campus during the weekends.

"Toy Story 3" starts Friday Night Movies

This past Friday in the Student Center Theater, Campus life began its first Friday Night Movie with the screening of “Toy Story 3.” All movies are free, and no tickets or student I.D.s are required. The seating for both showings of “Toy Story 3” reached full capacity.

Since the birth of rock ‘n’ roll in the 1950s, the youth of America has been consumed with a common inspiration to get some friends together, form a band, learn some tunes and spread the music.
