A new day in college football is on the horizon, and with funding from the "Maxx Match" program, Eastern Michigan University is set to take full advantage of it.
Going to high school just 10 minutes apart from each other, it seemed to be destiny that Brian Dooley's and Gunnar Oakes’ paths would cross at some point. The two high school football standouts saw this happen at Eastern Michigan University, where they both suited up for the Eagles between 2018-22. Now, just a few short years later, they have reunited to play for Michigan’s United Football League team, the Panthers.
Five men and three women in the Eastern Michigan track and field program will fly the flag for the green and white in Jacksonville, Florida, later this week. Gabe Singh, Brendan Hill, Lucky Fiaku, Jake McEachern and Kian Wiles headline the men’s Eagles that will compete in the NCAA East Prelims that begin the morning of May 28, while Micah Martin, Saraiah Walkes and Isabella Brent will lead the women into competition beginning May 29.

With a loss to Ball State University, Eastern Michigan University's hopes of playing in the second round of the Mid-American Conference tournament have been dashed. A three hour and 17 minute weather delay zapped away any momentum that Eastern Michigan had built up, and Ball State pounced on the opportunity, scoring three unanswered runs of their own over the next three innings to hold on and knock off the Eagles 6-5.
Cole Snyder and Trey Laing now both join Justin Jefferson as former Eagles to continue their professional football careers overseas this offseason, all three being either drafted or inked to Canadian Football League contracts.
While Eastern Michigan may have lost on the scoreboard, their season will not be coming to an end just yet. Courtesy of a Toledo victory over Central Michigan, the Eagles have secured the sixth and final spot in the season-ending Mid-American Conference Tournament, their first postseason berth since 2018.
Cooper Vance’s walk-off two-run homer completed the Eagles’ astonishing five run comeback in extra innings, securing a 12-11 victory for the home team over Kent State and putting Eastern Michigan in the sixth and final conference tournament spot with just two games remaining.

With the final bid in the season-ending Mid-American Conference tournament hanging in the balance, Eastern Michigan’s baseball team made a pivotal road trip to Mount Pleasant to face off against Central Michigan University, one of their direct competitors for the final spot.Although they entered the weekend holding the edge over the Chippewas in the standings, the Eagles proceeded to lose two of three games to their fellow in-state foe by a combined three runs and slip into a three-way tie for the final spot in the bracket.

It was a tale of two games on Saturday for the Eastern Michigan baseball team. Fresh off a loss in the opening game of the series against Northern Illinois on Friday, the Eagles bounced back in a big way in the first game of the day with a 13-3 victory, ending the game in the eighth inning thanks to college baseball’s 10 run rule. However, the nightcap was all Northern Illinois. The Huskies destroyed the home team with a 17-1 win and left Oestrike Stadium with a series victory to boot.
For the second straight season, the Eastern Michigan women’s lacrosse team saw its campaign end in the opening round of the Mid-American Conference tournament. On Thursday, May 1, 2025, the Eagles posted a 16-4 loss to the Akron Zips.
Eastern Michigan standouts are making waves at the next level, with defensive lineman signed by the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders and quarterback Cole Snyder earning a rookie minicamp invite from the Detroit Lions. The announcements mark major progress for both athletes following the 2025 NFL Draft.

The only thing warmer than the weather at Oestrike Stadium was the offense of the Eastern Michigan baseball team. Scoring all of their runs in the opening four innings, the Eagles made quick work of Youngstown State by dispatching the Penguins in a dominant 14-4 victory to return to the win column for the second straight game.
Senior Brooke Blaszczyk helped Eastern Michigan University’s cheerleading team shine at NCA Nationals by securing a $2,500 grant through her workplace to fund new uniforms. Her behind-the-scenes effort ensured every teammate could compete with pride, leaving a lasting legacy in her final season.
Easter Sunday was productive for Eastern Michigan University's women’s lacrosse team. Led by five goals from Tracy Grollman and four from Emerson Henry, the home squad held off Akron in a back-and-forth affair at Scicluna Field, 16-12, and clinched their spot in this year’s MAC Tournament.
